Did it just get done charging? Was it 120v or 240v?
It was done probably around 1am on a 240v. Plenty of time to “cool down” before driving it at 11am.

Did you try rebooting the car at all? Maybe it's just a weird temporary glitch.

At this point that’s what I’m assuming. Haven’t driven it since this morning but I’ll check it out tomorrow ?

That is what I call Tuesday around here.

Or Saturday. Or any other day. But it’s 29° right now so I know why I get gray bars. Still, not usually that many without a couple power romps.

I pulled the frunk tub yesterday just to explore. Also cracked open the fuse box, which cuts most 12v power and also opened the HV safety connector as well. When i put it all together, I had all the bars like that. After about 20 minutes of sitting, it went away. ?‍♂ Said all that to say maybe just a momentary computer glitch.

Yeah I have to assume it’s something temporary! A glitch like you said

I was driving my GTPE on the highway today, 68°, sun shining, pretty high state of charge. And yet look how many bars were on the power meter. I’ve never actually seen that many and I got this car in the dead of winter!
Anyone seen that many in what seem to be pretty optimal conditions?

According to the people who talked to the engineers, grey bars are a direct result of discharge rate of the battery over time, plus a hard limit of 5 seconds at full throttle.

Things that impact it:
Speed
Acceleration
State of charge
External temp (too hot, too cold)
Battery temp (too hot, too cold)

Unfortunately we don’t know the formula, but it’s always a combination of those things.

Driving on the highway above 70 mph, even if everything else is perfect, they always show up.

If they go away later, nothing to worry about.

Yeah I had seen all that and all the hoopla over the thermal management of the GTs, which I why I was surprised to see this many bars on my dash. I hadn’t driven it hard at all, good state of charge, good ext temps. Ford needs to figure this shit out (and I assume they did on the Lightning otherwise people will lose it).

What was your top speed around the time you saw the bars?

I’m still hopeful they’ll make the prison bars less restrictive. They could with a simple tune change.

Probably 70 for a few minutes, but no hard accelerating etc. I’ve driven much harder and never seen that many bars!

I agree here’s hoping Ford can do something with software to really open up the power. If they even just give us more existing capacity in the battery and maybe power could be opened up without opening up more charge. (I’m not an engineer so no idea if what I said is insane).

Interesting. Then yes, one would assume these bars are related to heat and the battery…but I wasn’t fast charging. So strange.
Last time I saw so many bars on my GTPE was when I was at 4% battery with 17 miles just before DC Charging

I drove it again yesterday and today and zero bars. Hopefully just a complete fluke.

If tomorrow, an option appears on my infotainment screen asking me to pay $2500 to unlock the 5 second rule, I will.

Me too, as long as it also unlocks the grey bars at cold temps.
