So, my 2022 MME Premium AWD has been sitting at 23-PU01101-RAD-PS update for almost 6 months now. I have contacted Ford Chat, the Software update team, and even taken it to a local dealership. No one seems to know anything or think anything is wrong at all... am I crazy here or does this sound unacceptable?!? I'm going on my first road trip next month and would really like it to be up-to-date as much as possible.

I got up to 6.7.0 prior to the holidays, then 6.8.0 seemed to queue up earlier this week but it now looks like it's stuck - "Update Unsuccessful - Will Retry As Soon As Possible" according to Fordpass. Strange that there's no dialogue box in the car about it. The Software Update screen says something to the tune of Ford is working to provide an updated version ASAP. I'm not in any rush, but it's the first update I've had in a while apparently stuck in this kind of limbo

What would you consider accurate enough? As far as I know cars commonly have a speedometer that is slightly off, typically biased upwards. So if your speedo says you're traveling 70mph, you're probably actually traveling 67-69mph.
I would imagine acceptable error bounds are within a few percentage points of speed. Let's be generous and say 5-10%.

You can chill with the snarky tone.

If you think asking for an accurate speedometer is asking for perfection, then you have a very low bar for perfection.

This isn't part of something like the entertainment software. Ford should absolutely be held to a higher standard in that regard. The bug in the speedometer was flagged a while ago. If they don't have a fix for it, they should not have continued releasing the update for the IPC.

I design chips for the automotive industry, so I'm very well aware of the levels of verification various features should be going through. There is leniency for some non critical functions in terms of lack of verification coverage. This should not have been let through if Ford had proper systems in place.
No speedometer in the automotive field is accurate. Just too many variables. Like tire circumference and pressure. Close when new, but will change as they wear. I've had vehicles that were off over 10 MPH. It's knowing how far off that it is that's important.

So 7mph at 70 but nothing at 0?

What did they say, specifically? If you are "stuck" on an old software version there probably has to be some action taken to "unstick" you. The dealer will be clueless, so I would focus on the BEV team. Call 800-392-3673 and ask to be transferred to the BEV team, or PM the Ford Motor Company account in this forum.

If you strike out there and you want to be the squeaky wheel, you could also try tweeting @ebergg. Per her Twitter bio she's "Global Director, Electric Vehicles, Energy & Battery Tech Comms for Ford."

So 7mph at 70 but nothing at 0?
Regulation is +/- 5 mph at 50 mph but that could just be for commercial vehicles.

The standard is 0 mph at 0 mph... I guess you could say it is minor, but it is a pretty dumb error to leave in place, especially for a digital display.

I'm in the same boat. AFAIK this is an inhibit update but I never saw the dialog box on the Sync screen stating it would install at my scheduled time or giving me the option to install immediately. ??

I spoke to the Ford Chat support first, who said:

"Our Ford Power-Up Software Updates team will be able to help,
you can reach them at 833-389-0848
Hours of Operation are 8:00 a.m. –11:00 p.m. EST (Monday - Friday)
8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. EST (Saturday)"

So I called that number, and that guy said he checked and it was definitely out of date and that I should... "Take it back to the dealership" ... which I already told him I did last week! ROFLMAO

I will try that other number though and follow your suggestions, thanks a bunch! (all but the Twitter part, because I killed that account the moment Elon took over)

Yes, but just to be clear, this is a transient error we are talking about. It goes away in a couple of days.

It's possible a dealer will need to be involved. Some users have reported needing the dealer to manually update the APIM or TCU (modem) to get OTAs going again. Some have had to have dealers actually replace these parts. But getting your dealer to actually diagnose the issue and follow-through is not easy, so it'd be helpful if you get someone on the BEV team providing specific instructions and / or advocating to the dealer on your behalf.

Does Fordpass work for you? Are you able to remotely control the car and use the app to check its status (helps indicate if your modem is working)?

If you're OK getting a bit hands-on there are a few other things you can try:

Pop the Frunk, remove the plastic cover (note this is not that easy to do, requires some force, and you may break some of the plastic retaining clips in the process), and disconnect your 12V battery for 10+ minutes to "reset" your car. I believe you'll lose stored configuration settings...

There are also individual fuses you can pull, but disconnecting the 12V is like pulling all the fuses at once.

Good luck!

Got 6.8 just now.

2023 Premium.

It failed last night but after running some errands I tried it again and it was successful.

Since you are in a 2022 and have updates that came out this year, you may be up to date for the moment. Are you in the Early Access Program?

Your car just may be a bit farther behind in the queue and almost all updates have been on hold for the last month. They just started moving again last week, mostly to EAP vehicles.

Oh well sure, the app has worked just fine so far, thank goodness! I can turn the car on/off and pop the frunk, etc. with no issues at all. Heck, even my PAAK works well (knocks on wood). LOL

I just can't get any durn OTA updates to run.
