I hate to have my first post on here be negative, because I loved the car up until I encountered this problem. But here goes:

I bought a brand new 2023 MME CR1 and I pretty much fell in love with it immediately. I promptly took it on a thousand mile road trip, and it performed flawlessly. A couple weeks later I had a longer road trip planned with my family. On the second day out, the wrench icon lit up with a notification to service the vehicle soon. When we got to our destination, I took it to a Ford dealership, they ran their tests, and said I shouldn't drive the vehicle home because the valve that sends coolant to the engines and high voltage battery was not working/stuck closed. And the kicker is the part is on back order until the very end of the month, so I had a rent a car to get home.

For a car with only 2,500 mi on it I feel like this is totally unacceptable! Hopefully Ford will reimburse me for the rental I took home, but working with their customer care department has not been terribly easy. Luckily my dealership of purchase is going to provide me with a loaner car until my MME is fixed.

Unfortunately, even once it's fixed, that's not the end of the story because my MME is about a thousand miles away from me at a completely different dealership. Has anyone had any luck with Ford shipping their vehicle between dealerships in a situation like this?

TLDR: My 2023 MME CR1 with only 2500 miles had a powertrain malfunction power reduced fault while on a road trip. It was diagnosed as having a faulty coolant diverter valve, and the part is on backorder until the end of the month.

Has anyone had success getting Ford to ship their vehicle across the country from one dealership to another?

Note: MachE does not have any "engines", only "motors". I suppose this is the opposite of when people refer to motors in their ICE car.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the coolant valve. I don't think Ford has an ability to ship a vehicle around because of a warranty repair. I would imagine you have to return and pick it up yourself.

Colleges are just letting out. Contact the staff at ones close to your Pony and tell them you're looking for a kid to drive it your way. Save him or her the cost of a ticket and you get the car back.

Hi Ian! I can look into your Mach-E's powertrain concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Mach-E's VIN?

That's an idea. Got a couple things in the works, we'll see what pans out. Cheers

Hi, thank you! I will send you my VIN. Having another set of eyes on it would be great.

An agent from the BEV team actually called me today and said she would be taking over my case and keeping in contact with the dealer that's working on the car. She seems like she's on it, which is very much appreciated!

Kudos to you for being more trusting than I am. Thers is no way I'd let a college student drive my GTPE.

Any update on this? My car was serviced for HVJB recall and then I also started getting powertrain malfunction as well as engine coolant overheating warning. It has been at the dealership for a while. Can you please share what helped you get it resolved? Thanks

They replaced the valve, so it's fixed, just sitting there at the dealership in Texas and I'm waiting for it to get shipped back to me here in Colorado. My dealer here has given me a loner. It's been a frustrating process trying to get it back to me. I don't have time off from work to fly down to Texas and drive it back and the Ford representative helping me has had a hard time getting transport arranged. From what I understand, they are waiting for my local dealership to agree to cut a check on behalf of Ford to the transportation company, and somehow that's a hang up at the moment. Anyway, hopefully it's resolved soon and I'll have my car back. I'm tired of driving a Ford edge, I want my mustang!

That’s bad. I hope you get your car soon. We are also missing our Mach-e very much. My dealer has replaced HVJB but now said they need to replace another part which may take couple of days to arrive. Man this seems like never ending process of issues now and makes me wonder if I can rely on Mach-e anymore for long trips

I know what you mean. I like to think that we just got unlucky, because I think the majority of Mach-E owners have no issues and love their vehicles. On this forum alone it seems like people are road tripping all the time.

I will say this, despite how long this has taken, Ford has taken care of me, but if Ford wants people to adopt EVs, they really need to invest in the service end of EV ownership. Waiting months on parts is insane. In the future, I hope that parts for these vehicles become more ubiquitous so that repairs don't take so long. Best of luck to you! Hope you get your vehicle back soon.

Sorry to hear this. I have less and less faith in our gt as time goes on.

As an matter of fact our yearly road trip up the California coast is coming up but we have decided against driving our mach e because we don’t trust it after the issues we have experienced only after months of ownership.

We will most likely end up renting a car for the trip as sad as that sounds.
