How did your drive go?

I'm just getting up. Haven't driven yet. But when I checked on the car last night, it had started charging ahead of my preferred hours and was at 94% SOC and still charging -- I set it to stop at 85%.

So I unplugged it of course, but also started the vehicle to check for other anomalies.

Tire pressure isn't reported for the front left tire! ? Hopefully this one will come back on its own during my drive this morning.

Reverse brake assist was also reported as not available but that is expected right after the 2.4.2 update per the release notes.
We had none of your issues fortunately, except the tire pressure. Only new issue was the volume control was locked on the navigation prompts (the turn-by-turn instructions) . I forget the exact wording it displayed... Once we got to the destination, we did the power cycles that @RonTCat suggested and eventually it fixed itself.

Cool. The rest of my day with the vehicle was uneventful. (Work on the other hand?! I'm soooo tired!!)

I just dropped a huge note to Ford Early Access Program, so hopefully this will help them fine tune things going forward.

Hopefully you're also enjoying the refined parking pawl action that Drew @ManInBlack and I are observing. Previously, if I didn't decelerate very gradually as the vehicle approached zero velocity, I'd nearly always notice the parking pawl engaging into the motor. And then when accelerating out of a stop, I'd almost always notice it disengaging the pawl unless I accelerated from stop at a very gradual spin-up.

It's only been one day of driving, but for now at least, it feels way smoother at those stop/start events and it's nowhere near as easy to notice the pawl activity. Instead the vehicle seems to roll a little until it's at a better latching point.

I got a surprise today. I already had a 2.4.2 update failure because of my updating using FDRS. I checked the OTA status and there was a failed 2.4.2 update on March 24 with the same failedOnResponse of permanentInhibit.

Ford must have finally figured out that my MME had all the updates for BlueCruise because I got the "Welcome to BlueCruise" message in FordPass today. So I got BlueCruise for free an extra ten days.

Guess what?

My woes with 2.4.2 continue: My car just installed PowerUp-2.4.2 again (apparently the PCM and BECM have different versions than they did on the first install).

Well now I cannot even turn cruise control on? Took it for a ride right after FordPass told me the update was successful. Wanted to see if "going backwards" to 2.4.2 again would turn off BC...it sure did, it even turned off cruise control! (all my settings remained for ICC: Lane Keeping on, Intelligent Cruise on, etc.). Hitting the on/off button on the far left of the steering wheel does....nothing.

Maybe by morning it will work again, or maybe it will open the frunk!?

It was fun while I had it....

Your parking pawl engages while in D? That doesn't sound right. Should only engage in P from what I remember....
???

Bummer. They can even downgrade our cars via OTA. :(

I wonder if this is a reworked 2.4.2 to address the failures and then you’ll get 2.4.3 and up again.

Update: After letting the car sit for 30 minutes or so Cruise (and BC) are working again. Whenever my car has been glitchy like this a short sit while "off" has usually fixed it.

As a bonus while out on my drive I came across a Rivian R1S--yup the SUV. I didn't dare race it as my CA Rt1 would be no match for it LOL (and it was going in the opposite direction anyway).

Out of curiosity, did this instal of 2.4.2 go more smoothly? I remember you had a few tried getting the first one to take.

I use one pedal driving, so I can't speak to 2PD as I don't have enough experience with it.

Isn't it normal for the parking pawl to engage when the vehicle comes to a complete stop?

I thought this was a weird choice myself, especially since it's so noticable to me as the driver. But I believe it makes the vehicle more energy efficient. It doesn't have to keep the velocity held at 0 mph while I'm at stop lights (in case of wind, road slope, etc).

I don’t think it’s the prawl, it’s the friction brakes. That’s what holds it in 1PD or 2PD.

Oh. Could be??

It sounds/feels just like when I park on a nice horizontal surface like my garage floor and place the vehicle in Park. Then the vehicle rocks forward and backward a small amount so I assumed this was the pawl but maybe not.

If the parking brake engages, it's a very different noise, sounds like a ratchet, and then the vehicle doesn't roll whatsoever.

I don't understand much of this mechanical stuff so you guys are very likely right. I'm just going by sound, feel, and ample speculation.

I could be wrong, that rocking definitely sounds like the prawl.
