Looking for confirmation here, but I'm assuming that Apple Maps doesn't integrate to trigger preconditioning for fast charging when going to the chargers? Any other tricks or just keep using Ford Maps for the trips that will require charging?

Hopefully they change it in the future, but right now the ONLY way you can precondition is by using the built in Nav.
It is possible they add another way (manual button, or Apple Maps integration) in the future.

Has anybody tried putting in a destination in both Apple Maps and the Ford navigation?

That'd work in theory. Using Apple Maps as the actual nav, input a charger dest about 30 miles from you in the opposite direction.
My Connected nav is expired so it looks like I could actually test this sometime this week. Except my battery isn't going to be below 60 degrees I figure.

I did that on a trip in June, and it was giving me issues. For whatever reason having the Apple Maps nav put in kept causing the onboard nav to cancel. It happened twice in the 30 miles leading up to the charger and I just gave up.

I was using the Apple Maps, switched to onboard nav, set the destination as the EA charger I was headed towards, it showed the route and started navigating, I switched back to Apple Maps and noticed that I was hearing alerts from the Ford nav for a bit but they suddenly stopped. I looked at the Ford nav and it was showing no active route. I did it again, and same problem again about five minutes later.

I never canceled the nav or even went away from the Apple Maps screen once I set the onboard route.

Either I was having some unique issue, or the onboard nav freaks out because both Apple Maps and onboard are trying to talk to the instrument cluster (to show the route) and maybe it crashes the onboard nav, I dunno. But it definitely didn't do me any good in the end. It was a warm day so the car still charged great.

A recent update (6.14 was when I noticed, but it could have been one prior to that) now triggers the "miles to destination" UI (replacing range over on the left) in the driver's display when planning a route with Apple Maps. Previously, I could only get that if using the Ford Nav. Hopefully this means they can tie Preconditioning as well from Apple Maps routes in a future update!

Now if I could only get the Sync to update beyond 4.x. I just picked up the car a few weeks ago and am slowly getting updated...

I got mine a month ago (built in November). I got two updates in the first week or two then nothing since.
Kinda odd…. Hopefully you get more than me.

I heard this is a limitation on Apple’s side of things. Nothing to hope for Ford to do.

I see 2 ways to do this:
1. Use the Ford nav and have your spouse use Apple or other nav on their phone which is not paired.
2. Use apple maps, then switch to Ford nav when you're 50 miles out to trigger the warm up. You need a second person to handle the switching on the fly.
