Thanks for the post, called my dealer this morning and take my '21 GTPE in next Wednesday. Hadn't received the actual 2nd letter yet stating parts available.
Without the 2nd letter I visited the dealer today. They opened the repair order so they can order the part. On receipt they’ll call me, probably 2-3 weeks.

They told me that once they get the part it may take 4 days to more than a week to fix. Hopefully they can work out a rental car for the duration of the fix.
If they're on the ball, they will schedule your actual service once they get the part. The service labor to replace the HVBJB is less than one full day (so they should have your car out the next day). If they're scheduling you to be in line for service, that may take more than a day. Some service departments are so lame. ?‍♂?

Well, I’m glad my experience with the recall (so far) seems much better.

Just called my local dealer where I bought the car.

They scheduled me for next Weds (Jan 3).

They also said I’m “eligible” for pickup/drop off and a loaner.

So they’ll pick up my car, drop off the loaner and do the opposite when it’s done!

They also should fix my update issues (haven’t gotten one since Aug) and my headlight switch.
I suggested that car swap with my dealer. They said “no can do.” Hope it wasn’t the same place.

Yes, they are waiting for the part before I bring in the car. They said it is a "big job" and takes 4+ days to do, once the part is in. When I explained Ford offers a 2 day rental because that is the expected time frame, the SA told me "They (Ford) can come out and fix it". ?

It seems that my local Los Angeles area dealer is not well versed in the Mach-E and this particular repair. I hope my car is not the guinea pig...

How can these dealerships be so clueless. I don’t get it.

i deal with two Large dealerships and both have really been excellent. One in Rockland County, NY and another in Delray Beach Florida.

i don’t have any complaints and they have been on the ball. I mean they are FORD dealerships and I don’t expect them to be the same as the luxury car dealerships but I can‘t say anything bad about them other than the loaners I get aren’t 3 series BMW’s or Macan’s, LOL.

I hope your dealer doesn’t do to you what the service department did to me when I had my HVBJB failure. The service advisor ghosted me completely and wouldn’t return my voicemails or the messages I left. When I finally went there in person to get status I was told: “Huh, your car was done yesterday.” They put me on fill-in for diagnosis and repair so I didn’t even know if they’d started work after a week. ??

I didn’t ask, they brought it up. Autoway dealer.

They must have a special EV program going. I like it. Must be new though.

A year ago I had to drop my car off, no loaner but they got me a Lyft to and from the dealership.

Update... Just got the GTPE back today, everything fixed under the recall. Dealer said no issues with the HVBJB replacement and module updates, just a little time consuming with having to drop battery assembly safely. Dropped off on Wednesday morning, car done late this afternoon (Friday). Didn't need a loaner since not my primary car, but was offered. Car runs fine, no issues so far, didn't lose any profile setting, etc, performance same, but will keep everyone posted if anything crops up.

So just to recap:
12/21 - Called dealer to schedule/order parts (have not received letter yet, nor have had any prior issues with HVBJB)
12/26 - Parts received by dealer
12/27 - Replacement started
12/29 - Replacement complete

Sometimes you just can’t win …

Called to schedule recall service last week. Went over the recall notice with service scheduler on the phone. Verified rental authorized. Pointed out that parts need to be ordered and it might take 5 days - she checked with service manager. Yes, parts will be ordered. Called yesterday to check. Adviser unavailable but left message. I gave it 50/50.

Showed up early this morning. No parts. Reschedule for next week. Ugh.
I never trust schedulers, sometimes they aren’t even at the dealership, just some call center.

Does anyone have official customer facing notice that customers are entitled to loaners or rentals for this recall? Will the PDFs attached to this thread suffice as proof? I'm just making sure I have all my ducks in a row in case I have to fight with a dealer for a loaner/rental.

Also the PDF in this thread mentions rentals but also mentions Extended Service Plans, do you have to have an ESP to get a rental with this recall?

Reference the rental in the dealer bulletin (p.4) and the owner letter I just posted. You get two free days of rental, because they should order the part in advance of the visit.

What you described is verbatim what is stated in Ford’s 7-page letter (posted by Lee a few weeks ago). Ford is reimbursing dealers 2-day rentals (loaners) and requiring those who participate in the mobile service program to pick up / drop off customers’ vehicles.

I’m glad your dealer is following Ford’s directions and providing great customer service. I wish more would do the same.

Best of luck with the repair.

My dealer did not order the parts. From the interchange with their service scheduler, they are unaware of the recall, the parts order process and the Ford rental time period. Not looking forward to this adventure.

They didn’t say it was 2 days. Specifically they said I could keep the loaner until my car is ready.

I’m not super confident they’ll have all the parts in stock, but we shall see.

Seems like not a lot of dealers participate in the mobile service program.
