Just took delivery today and it’s overwhelming looking through all the settings.

Curious what people have found to be the most beneficial to adjust or setup in Sync.

When I first got my car, I sat in the garage and went through all the settings, taking my time to investigate the ones that seemed the most important. The help (tap the ”I” next to the setting) is more useful on some settings than others. It took me 30 minutes or so - it’s not that bad, just do it.

Then I perused this forum to get better insights into some of them.

One pedal drive and drive mode are probably the most consequential to the operation of the car, imo.

Set up a profile. Set up Phone as a Key. Drive and enjoy! You will figure out how you want to configure it in time. Everyone has different tastes on the configuration. ??

Don’t skip setting up backup key code and door code. With PaaK you’ll eventually need them.

There are a couple decent youtube vids that walk you thru the settings. I watched one in advance and it did make the settings a bit easier when I got my car.

First things that got turned off were the school zone alert and the color coded distance display (big blue box on the IPC in front of the car icon).

Then I changed the pre-collision assist to low sensitivity (warns less frequently when cars in front are turning if I don’t slow down too much because they’ll complete their turn before I get there).

That reminds me I haven’t heard the school zone alert in a long time, I think one of the updates turned it off by default, cause I don’t remember doing it

The school zone warning to me is a great example of how we can have such diverse opinions on things, some of which really shouldn't matter IMO.

The school zone warning comes up on the screen, with a tone, when one approaches a school zone. It doesn't slow the vehicle or adjust speed in any way. It simply gives you a heads up.

Unless your daily trip takes you past 15 schools, I can't imagine this being an issue, yet it comes up here and there. It's a great example of the saying:

"You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." I believe it was from a poet, John Lydgate, later adapted by Abraham Lincoln.

This is why product developers rip their hair out. They do focus groups (which are subjective), surveys (which may or may not have leading questions and have to be sent to a representative sample of prospective buyers), and still - people complain about things they hate, or things that are missing.

Go read a truck forum, and you would think that having the engine turn off a stoplight was akin to robbing their home it was such an affront. The backseat warning that comes on when you open and close the rear door before driving that was put into place to lower the death rate due to children being left in the car.

I think it's great that my car tells me that I'm approaching a school and should be more attentive.

Carry on, but let's not carry on. ?

My problem was that it actually warned (almost) correctly at one zone near my home. I say “almost” because where the warning actually triggered was all over the place - sometimes to until after I‘m almost completely through the zone. There are 3 places where I get the warning where there have never been schools in my lifetime and 4 school zones that don’t register.

I would have left it on if it were anywhere near accurate.

I think it is great that there are so many optional settings - you can really tailor this car to what you like. I turned off back seat occupied warning as our kids are gone. One warning that does not seem to turn off is the motion sensor - it is a known glitch.

Set up the driver seat to move backwards when turning off the car and then moving back to its normal position when turning the car on.
Makes it more comfortable to enter or leave the car.

I got annoyed by the school zone warning going off on the weekend... seems an easy coding fix to ignore Saturday and Sunday...
