2024 Mach E GT
So my lease on my 2023 Mace GT PE ends in late September of this year. As I’ve posted before, I really enjoy driving this car, it really is a lot of fun. But I desire longer range and faster charging. So after much consideration, I went ahead and ordered a BMW iX3. I went with the 20 inch wheels with summer tires, which gives the longest range of 434 miles. I’m assuming that in real life I will not achieve this, but should end up with a lot more range than I currently get with my Mach E. I was hoping that Ford one more car to change the range but so far it’s more or less the same. I got an email from BMW that my order has been accepted. If I’m lucky the new car will be ready just about the time My lease ends. Thanks to all of you. Who have made these boards a great experience. I’ve gotten a lot of good advice from all of you.
Sorry to see you go, the iX3 looks like a great car. We test drove IX which was really too big and way too pricey for us, but we loved it.great handling and acceleration, beautiful interior, smooth but firm ride.

Please let us know how you like the iX3 when you get it!

I can't unsee the $3600 paint option for Frozen Space Silver Metallic! $3600!!!
Have you seen Tesla and Rivian paint prices? $1500-2000 just for ā€œnormalā€ paint colors.

But matte paint is a nightmare to maintain and especially to repair if you get any chips or scratches. They’d have to pay me $3600 at least to take it, and only for a non daily driver.

Glad to hear you have a 400 mile bladder. Why else would you need more range than a Mach E provides?
There are plenty of reasons for wanting longer range. Chargers are scarce to non-existent in a lot of areas. Having the range of the BMW would mean I wouldn't have had to charge to 90-100% on some of my stops. From Betty NV to Lone Pine CA is only 114 miles... But 114 miles through Death Valley when it's well over 100 degrees really eats up your battery.

I'll definitely be looking at something in the 400ish mile quoted range for my next EV. Summer months are fine, but here in the oklahoma/texas/kansas areas, going anywhere over 150 miles away in sub 40 degree temperatures is too much risk for me.

Enjoy the heck out of that Beemer!! Looks like a great choice. Seems BMW, Merc and Volvo are going for the mid-luxury EV owners, while Ford is going after the "Blue-collar" income level EV'ers. Although we still don't have real specs or pricing on Ford's new "Maverick" sized pickup. If Ford goes 400V architecture and smallish battery; I may just step up to that BMW, Merc, Volvo level next EV. Just not sure when that will be yet.

The very best of luck to you. Having owned several ICE BM’s including a convertible E46 M3 they are fantastic cars. My Mach-e is also a great car but the range has to be better. My neighbour has just got an IX3 50 with a range of almost 500 miles. Looks interesting for my next car purchase. Let us know how you get on with the BMW.

Agree on the Midwest. I share this experience. Ain’t no way this thing is doing anything close to 400mi range on the highway. But even 300 miles of true highway range at 75mph, plus the faster charging, would be a nice improvement.

As someone originally from Nevada, I can honestly say that there are reasons to visit Lone Pine, but Beatty? ;)
Was going from Vegas to Mammoth. Beatty was just along the way. Who knew lil Beatty would have a Tesla supercharger though?!? (Probably for the exact reason I used it.)

Yes, they do. In the case of one, it's the reason to visit Beatty. Unless, of course, you're a railroad fan. In that event, there are several historical yards to visit nearby.

Rumor is a 60kWh battery pack and 400v platform for the new Ford EV
