I'm in Colorado and just had Safelite replace my windshield. The technician said there was a problem installing because the plug for the new windshield doesn't match the receptacle for the car, 4 prongs instead of 2. The new windshield is supposedly OEM and it has the blue oval, but I noticed it doesn't have the purple tint. However it does have faint wavy lines in the glass so it appears to be heated. I thought the heated windshield was a European thing? Now I have to wait for another replacement. Personally I find the wavy lines in the glass very distracting. Anyone have a similar experience with windshield replacement?

Please post pictures, I'm surprised they could even source an embedded heated windshield in the states

Yes that's the heated windshield from Europe, I remember seeing it when Bjorn drove mach e. Pity we don't get it, esp useful in winters
^^ This!
I think US regulations don’t allow heated windshields?

Too bad it doesn't actually heat with the incompatible wiring harness

Sure they do. A lot of Volvos in the US have had heated windshields for years. But they’re not very common here for most brands.
We had this discussion a couple years ago. Maybe it was more along the lines of heated windshields that meet other US requirements get crazy expensive. IDK….it seems like they are much more common in Europe for some reason.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Replacement Windshield is Heated? IMG_2044

These are what the connectors look like on the US spec. One set is for the front camera glass, the other heats the wiper parking area only.

It might help the fogging we get when we try to squeeze a few more miles out of the battery by keeping the heater/defroster off.

Safelite?? In Colorado??
You get what you get. And it is not what you want or requested.
Safelite won the glass wars in Colorado. The "consumer" lost. And continues to loose.

There's no might about it. It would definitely help. Heated windshields make a ton of sense in EVs that are trying to be as efficient as possible. Firing up the PTC heater just to get a bit of fog or frost of the windshield is a tremendous waste of energy.
