I have a few times, do what you gotta do.

Also what may sound like a strange tip is if the inside of your windshield gets a little hazy wiper fluid and a paper towel work great to clean.

I feel the squeegee is there for paying customers, and I would buy a soda or food item if I needed to use it. I think it is the same principle as using the "free" EVSE at the local mall - it is there for customers who are at the mall to shop.

If I pop into a gas station to use the bathroom, I usually will also buy an ice cream......you know, so I don't feel guilty. ?

I definitely recommend ice cream over Gatorade!

Has anyone pulled into a gas station with the express purpose of cleaning the windows?
Yes! After nearly a year, I finally caved and went. I don't think anyone even noticed. Besides, the MME didn't scream "electric car" like a Tesla does. I should have looked for a bagged nozzle as there usually is one (see gas VSE fails too sometimes ?). But it was not very busy with plenty of empty pumps. I just pulled up to the empty diesel pump on the end.

They really need to put squeegees at charging stations but then who would fill them? ??‍♂

Given the condition of many squeeges, not to mention the solution mix, I suggest buying your own and a bottle of windex in the frunk. I find windex with a squeege to be streak free.

On a related note, is mine the only MME that is a bug magnet?
Yah I have my own squeegee and bucket in the garage but it's just not the same man. I'm pretty sure the cleaning solution at gas stations is made by the Keebler Elves as a side gig. No matching that elven magic.

Cyber Orange must be scientifically formulated to attract insects. When I come out to the car on a sunny day, Sheeba is covered with them. Bees get confused AF.

Although, the EVSE (and its usage) are just a tinsie bit more expensive than a squeegee and some bargain basement cleaning solution ?.

Yes, fuel sale margins are pitiful. I just underwrote a NH gas station (unbranded, buys off the rack). New England margins are slightly better than the nation average at around 24 to 36 cents for every gallon sold. Compare that to the 30% margins on convenience items and you see where the real profit comes from.

Gas station appraisals are now addressing the long term risks BEVs pose to the industry. We are talking about assets with a 25 year useful life securing loans of equal length. All this talk of change by 2025, 2030 or 2035. Imagine what the landscape will look like in 25 years.

But I digress (per usual ?). I will gladly overpay for Reese's. Sweet mana from Heaven.

I've had my best conversations with ICE drivers while using the windshield squeegee. I usually try to walk in and buy something but leaving your EV parked at a gas pump is a d-bag move so don't do that.

I always have a bottle of Adams Glass Cleaner and Glass cleaning Towel under the floor in the back. I find I use it a lot because there really are no gas stations out on the back county roads where I spend a lot of time killing bugs and having fun.

I keep a can of Invisible Glass cleaner and a couple of glass cleaning towels in my MME all the time. Works pretty good.

One day we will look back in amazement that charging stations were not plentiful and did not have squeegees. We will tell stories to the next generation of what it was like to go to a gas station (what's that?!) to use their squeegees after a summer drive, and of the low range and poor cold weather performance of our EV batteries. They will listen in wonderment of how we accomplished all of this without AI to guide our way.

Until then, do what you have to do to keep the glass clean. It's rough out there being an EV owner minority in a field of ICE vehicles.
