Had some wind noise on our 22. More so than our 21 in this area, We attributed it to the glass but just last month I used my points to get free Ford window visors, they tuck into the rear of the side mirror trim with a small tab, I believe this caused the front edge to be leveraged in to seat a bit lighter and now I have less wind noise in the car at highway speeds. Go figure, since I was thinking the window visors would cause more wind noise not less.

Thanks. Pics please.

Haaa! I've been dealing with this issue for almost 11 months now... And stumbled upon this thread. Hopefully this indeed the fix! The sound is most annoying!

I've developed a fix for the wind noise coming from the side mirrors. Previous testing reveled a reduction in noise when these areas are covered:

Others have reported some success caulking the gaps with Dynaflex, but personally I find that a bit sloppy. If the caulk doesn't go well or cracks later on, it's a pain to remove and redo.

So instead I decided to try 3mm window screen retainer spline:

The end result looks okay and does reduce the wind noise somewhat to 62-65 dB @ 70 MPH:

We'll see if it comes loose in time, but I wind tested it to 90 MPH and it stayed put. There is still a small horizontal gap at the front of the door trim (small tape triangle in first photo), I'll need to do some additional testing to see if that's worthwhile to cover or not. The gap is not constant there, so the spline won't stay put. I may try a small piece of PPF to cover that gap.
So I did this screen spline noise fix today. I've had the car for over 46k miles now and I know its creaks and whistles. I did a 80 - 90 MPH hour-long run afterward and... the slight high speed whistling noise is now gone!

Many many thanks! Such an eaaaasy fix too!

NOTE: there are three thicknesses of the screen spline. I used the smallest diameter. About $5 cost for a small roll.

I did the same, less than $5 and 5 minutes of time for a definite difference. Still some wind noise from the mirror area but it definitely improved things. Thank you for the tip.

I pushed 2 already in there.
It’s slightly getting better
I have the third one set as depicted in the photos.
Seems to be quieter except for strong surface winds.

I use a piece of black plastic electrical tape to cover the gap. It is virtually invisible and pretty much stopped the wind noise on the drivers side. I haven‘t heard similar wind noise from the passenger side.
Any chance you could provide a picture of your solution?

actually I have subsequently removed the tape and applied a narrow bead of black silicone calking on the seam between the top of the mirror mount and the door. While tape worked it did begin to lift over time.

I used a small piece of windscreen rubber that holds the screen in place. It cost 24 cents and works well.

Hey, Question for you about installing it. Did you just take measurements and pushed it in with your finger? Or did you use the same tool to use as if you were installing it on a screen window?
Thank you

Lined it up, cut it, pushed it in with my finger. Took two minutes.

Same here. I would think the tool used on window screens could easily scrape the paint or plastic.
