Built on or before 09-Jul-2024

Markets: Canada, USA

Issue: Some 2021-2024 Mustang Mach-E vehicles built on or before 09-Jul-2024 may exhibit a wind noise from the exterior mirrors/A-pillar area when driving between 25 mph-40 mph (32 km/h-64 Km/h). This may be due to poor sealing of the lower mirror foam and the glass top run foam. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to install new lower inner foam and the glass top run foam.

NOTE: A small amount of wind noise from around the exterior mirrors is considered to be characteristic of vehicle design.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:

• 2021-2024 Mustang Mach-E
• Built on or before 09-Jul-2024

This seems like a very complicated fix. I worry that my local dealer would be able to remove and reinstall all these parts without introducing squeaks and rattles which may be worse in the long run than the wind noise.

For the last few months I’ve had tape covering the gaps around the mirror (like the TSB) and it does reduce the wind noise over the mirror but does not fix the wind noise over the driver’s side ear. That is noise is caused by multiple gaps not covered by the TSB.

* the top of the windshield and the glass roof
* the glass roof and the frame
* between the door and the frame (which may never have a good solution)

I put insulation and tape over the first two and reduce the driver side ear noise such that I'm not reaching for the window button constantly (lol).

Had a bit of a eureka moment and I think I've found the perfect compromise solution between spline (which works just ok for noise) and the thick rubber strip, which works better but is ugly. I had some of this U-shaped rubber left over from an unrelated project and it hit me after a road trip (during which I was still hearing more wind noise than I should) that it might fit nicely into the mirror gap. And wow, not only is it a good fit but it works GREAT - ZERO noise - and it doesn't look like sh*t.
I also want to express gratitude for this solution. I'd had the wind-noise TSB done on my car and it may have made a little difference but the majority of the noise didn't go away. I tried your solution this week and couldn't be happier. Not only did it resolve the wind noise problem, it practically eliminated the road noise from other cars along side of me and passing me on the road. That was noise I had just accepted as being normal until now. It's a great improvement so thank you very much.

My driver's side came out similar to yours:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Side Mirror Wind Noise Fix 1726425854982-ks

I decided to do the passenger's side as well but there wasn't room for the trim rubber to fit so I compromised. It doesn't look as good but it should stays put:

That was noise I had just accepted as being normal until now. It's a great improvement so thank you very much.
Well done, and I'm happy this solution helped others. I found that by gently using a metal hook to hold up the rubber trim up at the top I was able to tuck the top edge of the rubber strip in, which I think really gives it a finished appearance.

Here is that top edge today, months after I installed it:

Oh, OK. That's the reason for trimming that end of the rubber. I hadn't quite understood that part. Now it's clear. I'll do it. Thanks!

My car is getting close to it's 10K Mile Service and was wanting to get everything scheduled.
Did you have the Wind Noise TSB done and did you notice a difference after the repair was done?

Make sure to give them as much notice as possible on the TSB because they "will have to order the parts" and they "might not be ready" when you actually bring your car. The most likely outcome will be they will figure out your car meets the criteria for the TSB, then never order the parts and forget to call you....and I go to the "good" dealer around here.

I had the wind noise TSB done in July this year. The difference I sensed was the front motor whine was reduced. In August last year I'd had the whine-related TSB done, and it reduced the whine some. The wind noise TSB seemed to reduce the whine even more but it didn't do much for the wind noise. The solution that significantly reduced the wind noise is the one offered by Jeff-NoVA above.

I had the TSB done within 3 weeks of owning the car. It just made it worse. Before I couldn't hear it over the rain on a really wet day, now I can....

This seems like a very complicated fix. I worry that my local dealer would be able to remove and reinstall all these parts without introducing squeaks and rattles which may be worse in the long run than the wind noise.
My exact concern, I'm coming up on 10K Mile Service and am debating what to do.....

Voxel! You described my three exact problems. My car used to be amazing and silent.

But suddenly all these things appeared after i went to service. I taped my mirrors with a slight reduce in wind noise.

The wind noise you describe from your left ear i have that one too and people who are sitting behind me say their window sounds like its open. When cars go past my left hand side i can hear them loud and clear compared to the right one. Can you please send pictures of where you taped to get a reduce on sound level?

My drivers door list goes slightly more inwards than the passengers behind my i tried to tape it with no luck?.

I also have the windshield/pano noise hoping to get that fixed with the dealer. The frame/panel above my head i can feel it vibrating in high speeds around 90km/h
