Buy the vehicle you like because you can change the wheels and tires. You can’t take the Kia out of a Kia. I see $35,000 base model trucks with another $25,000 worth of lift kits, wheels, tires, etc., just to be a pavement princess. Spending a couple thousand on wheels and tires isn’t that weird or anything.

Especially if it’s the aero wheel covers on the 2021 selects with the comfort and appearance package. Those might be the ugliest wheels/covers I ever seen. I wanted the heated seats and steering wheel so I dealt with it, but it was frustrating every time I looked at them. And I typically don’t care about wheels!

Agree. I’d rather spend another $2000-3000 to get the wheels and tires I want on the car I want. Of course, because of this forum, I knew I wanted to do that before I even placed my MME order and built it into my budget. Anytime something is a surprise it’s frustrating. However, I’ve never bought a car that came with great OEM tires. I usually replace the OEM within a year anyway, so marginally I was only out about $1000 for different wheels.

I will say, in practice, the relatively narrow tires are not that apparent because the Mach-E, at the end of the day, doesn't have a whole lot of ground clearance.

But I agree that swapping out wheels/tires is the way to go if they are bugging you a lot if you otherwise prefer the Mach-E over other possible purchases.

I went and looked at a Premium yesterday because my wife is thinking of changing colors.

I'll admit, it looks strange from the back with those skinny tires. Kind of like a huge, yoked, strong upper body dude with tiny legs.

I don't see it weird enough to swap wheels/ tires until they need replacing though, if ever.

Totally agree with your first paragraph ...you're buying the car...wheels/tires can be changed.

I agree with your second paragraph (aero cover ?) but did you consider the comfort and technology to get the heated seats and steering wheel without those wheels..

From the Canadian order guide Comfort/Technology package does not include the 19 inch Shadow Silver-Painted Aluminum wheels is $800 separate option

I agree with you 100%. The car looks fantastic from nearly every angle except for the rear. Those tiny little tires give it a less aggressive stance. Even the Tesla model Y has an aggressive stance from the back because of the big old tires they put on it.

I just upgraded to a GT performance so I believe they are a bit wider but still nothing fantastic. They definitely perform better than the tires that were on my Premium, though. I could get that thing to slide out round a turn with just the slightest tap of the throttle.

Excuse you. Clearly you haven’t driven a Kia in a while, especially the Kia stinger. Drives better than most new BMWs. Which makes sense considering they poached the guy who ran the M division.

I’m almost six months in since ordering so I’m getting closer to taking delivery (once my car gets out of chip hold hell).

The one thing I’m really struggling with on this car is the tires. I was driving behind a Premium (what I have on order) the other day and it just looks ridiculous from behind with those skinny tires. Anyone else feel that way? I love the look from all other angles, but it's kind of rough from straight behind.

I’d be inclined to wait for the EV6 except I think the back end on that looks pretty awful.

Has this been a deal-breaker for anyone else?

Haven't worried about it at all.
I drive stock tires down until they're worn out and then upgrade the tires to match my needs. This gives me a good amount of time with the vehicle to know what I want (and need) before I spend a bunch of money.

The easy answer on a Premium is to move to a wider tire on day 1. Go to a 245/50/RZ19 in the Continental DSW06Plus. It is the same rolling size. The compound gives good grip but does not lose range. There is a study posted here that shows very little range loss on this width. The big range loss comes in the rim change. The rim Ford is given us has very good aero characteristics.

It may drive better than most BMWs, and considering it starts at $50,795 canadian, not worth the money. It is the most ugly exterior , interior I have seen in a long time.

I looked at one a few cars ago, stangely enough came down to a MKZ 3.0l V6 the Stinger and a MKX. Stinger is a decent car MKZ was faster and drove much better on the highway. My wife liked the MKX, you guess what I got
