Many of you took it off and have it put away, and good for you.

For those that want it, I thought of this, and it should work.

Cut a piece of 1/2 inch pvc to 6.5 inches. Thread the string on both sides, and hook it on. The idea is that the pvc will hold the cover taught away from the hanging peg, preventing the loose flopping.

I have a road trip tomorrow and will test it, but trying to lift the cover with my hand was not possible.

If it works, I'll paint them black.

EDIT, 2 WEEKS LATER - they work beautifully. At 50-60mph with the windows open, the cover didn't move at all.
They're tacky, perhaps, but they sit behind the headrests so no one can see them.

If that doesn't work, and you happen to have 1/2" vinyl drip tubing and some ~5mm wire:

1. cut a piece of the vinyl tubing to be the length of the front side of the cover.
2. Take scissors and cut a straight line down the tube, splitting it.
3. Cut 1 or 2 lengths of the aluminum wire to fit inside the tube. This is used both for weight and for adding stiffness.
4. Shove the split side of the tube, along with the wire, onto the side of the cover

It adds just enough weight to the cover to keep it completely still even at highway speeds with the windows halfway down.

Also: don't post any photos, or Rick will judge you HARSHLY but fairly.

I know it looks bad.
But
1. No one will see them.
2. It's a test
3. No one will see them.
4. Painted black they'll be less visible.
5. One and 3.

Your idea sounds good too, to add weight to the front part.

Another option is put some heavy rubber matting on top, only needs to be about 2 lbs's worth to hold it down'ish.

Which is similar to what I did 3 years ago.

Every time I think about putting it back I think, ‘what am I hiding? Oh yeah 2 cartons of eggs!’

We shouldn't have to resort to a kludge when Ford's design is useless. (probably cheap to them). I've noticed this same design in all of Ford's European EV cars also. (Explorer, Capri, Puma)

So they should have used a stiff wire, lol.

I love the idea, but rather than using PVC, I created a simple model for 3d-printing it. It's published here: https://www.printables.com/model/1301613-mach-e-cargo-cover-arm.

I reduced the length to 6.25 inches (6.5 was too tight and I was worried it would rip the string or the cover itself), and printed it in black ABS.

Black duct tape would make them redneck. Perfect for me since I'm black all over except for the back of my... Well, you know. ??

Is it just needing more weight over the top of it? There's got to be a more elegant mod. I'm surprised nobody has outright made a new screen in general that is better-designed but compatible with the attach points in the Mach-E. I jumped on the forum tonight just to look for a solution to this problem because it's driving me nuts.

But my wife wants me to leave the screen in there to hide nothing of value.

The cover clips further back to the sides, but the front is held by the 2 loose strings. So as air enters from the front, it lifts the front of the cover and makes it flap.
So, yes, it needs more weight along the front edge or something stiff where the strings are to prevent it from lifting up.

My 2 pieces of 1/2 inch pvc work flawlessly and they cannot be seen.
Pay $20 or more for a fancy mod, or cut 2 pieces of cheaper pvc; it's your choice.
