I have searched and do not find this specific issue so forgive me if I have missed it.

I recently took my CaRoute1 in for the glass recall and the dealer said they would also perform any needed software updates. I typically charge to 90% at home and up to that point would register about 280 miles in my extended range. Immediately after the repair and update(s), a 90% charge has fallen to about 225 miles. I have reset the mileage system twice, and I am in Southern California where it was nearly 80 degrees f yesterday so this isn’t an issue with cold weather nor is it my lead foot.

anyone else have this problem and if so, is there a fix?

Cheers,
Mike

I don't think this falls under the standard, GOM affected by weather threads that we see all the time. This is an interesting turn. I would expect a reset in the same weather to return the same results. It would be interesting if ford did change the calculations in an update, though I haven't heard that mentioned.

Now as is state, that range isn't by an factor a concrete value. Its likely your actual range hasn't changed.

Give it some time. Do you monitor your mi/kWh? If so has that value changed?

If I recall correctly, when I had the the big mod update this happened to me. They had done a reset. My mileage hadn't really changed, butt the GOM restarted from factory settings. Trips 1,2 and kw/m were all at 0. As all the long-term owners have stated, kw/m X % of remaining battery is really close.

The UPDATE likely resent your EV history. I really wish ford was brave enough to not put a range # and just displayed % - the range # means little to nothing and causes more anxiety than anything

I have never seem trip odometers reset. 21P22 does "fix" the range, as well as reset driving history.

For those worried about the GOM's range changing - what are you actually afraid of? Ford siphoning off a few cells from the battery pack? The motor being less efficient than before? Secret gnomes stealing electrons? Ford activating their secret supercomputer to take on Tesla's autopilot?

Snarkiness aside, the battery capacity didn't change, and any power efficiency changes (if any) are marginal at best. Just look at the miles per kwh meter, do some simple math (I just multiply it by 80[kwh] for the extended range), and you're on your way.

o_O Not 88? Why are you giving up 8kWh of range? Did you donate it to charity? Are you reserving it for emergencies? Are you one of those battery nuts that things that it degrades every day and you've already lost 10% of the battery?

WE NEED TO KNOW!

IT'S CALLED BEING LAZY, OKAY? Gosh... And yes, I'm reserving it for when I'm stuck in a 72-hour jam in a snowstorm in the middle of nowhere so I don't freeze to death in my smug, environmentally-friendly EV ?

I find the GOM somewhat useful, but not an oracle all on its own. The m/kWh tells a more accurate story in a decent length trip in terms of real time efficiency and implicit range. I particularly like seeing "miles to finish" and "range remaining" next to each other on the left of the driver screen when following a Nav route.

Interpolation of all these metrics is part of the fun and mystique of owning an EV, IMHO. My recent 215 mile (430 round trip) in winter temps (20s-30s) was a learning experience, especially since effectively only one DCFC station (necessary stop) was available in between start and finish each way. A third or more of the trip was in total outback territory, so the mid trip stop made for much less range anxiety in cold conditions.

For me the GOM actually increased range after I did the software updates, but I was dealing with cold winter weather in Ohio at the time.
