Stop safely now light haunting me!!!!
Only 600 miles on the car and it broke down in the middle of the road twice. Once on the freeway, once on city streets. I called a tow but each time, the car would start RIGHT before the tow truck driver arrived!
With 4 kids and 2 jobs this car is a nightmare!!!
Next day I took it back to the dealer the service adviser was initially very rude over the phone but they started “looking into it”. 2 weeks later I got the car back and the service advisor was trying to act as if I had the vehicle insufficiently charged and that’s what led to these issues. I had to remind him that this car first broke down the day after I bought it! They also sold me it 30% charged and I got home with 30 miles on it. The cars 12v battery was supposedly low.
I started reading about the constant issues with these vehicles and them being pre recall. I can’t believe I bought the biggest piece of crap. I have owned over 30 vehicles and never ever stranded like this. The fact that Ford is allowing this to go on is beyond me! How many more innocent customers paying 49k to have a lemon? I’m hoping the car stops malfunctioning but any more of this and I’m hoping they buy it back. I have ptsd from the whole situation and I’m reluctant to even drive it.
DONT EVER BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR! We are just not there yet:(

So, are you just here to complain, or would you actually like anyone to try to help you find out what might actually be wrong with your car?

Huh, when you get stranded with the SSN alert. There should be codes stored in the system indicating what is wrong. The dealer should be able to pull the codes. You should look for a new dealer.

The dealer is trying to place blame on me which is absurd. Maybe you are right! I’ll look into it

Thekat03 This is a forum to communicate and paper trail these lemon cars. By no means do I want anyone else going through this. Sorry you can’t comprehend this. I wanted help and got help! I don’t look on the internet for it ?

I am knocking on wood as I say this, but I took delivery of my '23 in Dec of '22 (and paid A LOT more than 49k ). 15k miles and not a single problem, other than the random minor software quirks. There might be a light at the end of the tunnel! Maybe check with another dealer? Unfortunately they are not all created equal. You can also give the Ford EV customer service line a call at 800-392-3673 (Pretty sure that is the #, others please chime in if I got that wrong).

Electric Cars are AMAZING

But I totally agree that WE may not be ready for them. ?

You can purchase a Toyota Corolla and drive off the lot and never need to know a thing about the car and be obliviously safe.

Not so much with an Electric Car.

In some ways they ARE as simple as they might seem to my sister who asked me recently "you just charge it at night like your IPhone, right? "

But in other ways there is so much to learn and experience before you are as at home with your EV as you once were with that Corolla.

And purchased used?
Oh man is there a lot I need to know beyond is there any gas in the tank before I leave that dealership lot!

Sorry to hear you soured so quickly.
You may or may not have a great car. But I fear you already might have your mind made up?

30% when they sold it to you and low 12v? Died the next day?

Sounds like they let it sit long enough it let the 12v die and most likely need a new one or a long reconditioning.

Which if so, has nothing to do with being an EV. Take a 12v out of your ICE and see how far you get.

A malfunctioning 12v battery can create havoc with these cars. The dealership should know that and charged/fixed that right away.

Your situation is not the norm and I do not recall any other complaints exactly like it. As others are suggesting it does sound like a possible low 12V battery issue. If that is the case it will be easily rectified. I hope it is in your case. I have had my Mach for over 2 years now with zero issues so they are not all bad.

My dealer let the battery die to the point I couldn’t even test drive it without them jumping it. So they do really need to work on taking care of their inventory better.

But they installed a new 12V and no problems since.

I'm trying to do the math on how it's possible to have 4 kids, but also have owned 30 cars already? Did you own each car for ~6-months? Or maybe your kids are now old enough to drive?

I love these people that come onto a forum with thousands of users that have owned their cars for years and want to tell us how all of our cars are completely useless and we should never buy an electric vehicle. Then they snap at anyone that offers advice or asks them a question. I can't even tell if there's a legit problem or it's just a troll, but either way the post here is pointless because they don't want to hear a response.
