@Mach1E here you go. This is what I’m talking about.
I had to cut the beginning because the video size was too large.

Like I said 2 seconds to respond on a system like this is a lifetime in computer science terms and in this day and age.

Ok, so the volume responds instantly but the visual numbers are delayed sometimes right when you start the car?

I see what you’re talking about. Like I showed in my video, my car doesn’t do that.

But even so…… seriously? That’s what this thread is about? And with two exclamation points!!

Of the complaints about this car’s software (and I have many), not sure this would make the top 20 list for me. But to each their own.

Curious though- how many videos did you have to take before you made it act up?

One, when I was leaving this morning.

I’m going to guess you were born before the 80s. Today, everyone expects technology to be responsive. Here is example that might be relatable. How would you feel if your microwave took two seconds to display the digit you just pressed. I’m sure you will end up with 222333000 a few times trying to get 2:30 on it. And after that, it would go in the trash.

Crazy, right?!?!? That's what people are talking about when they claim Tesla is soooo much better. ??

Lol, this isn’t that though. I’m in my low 40s, didn’t exist in the 1970s, and like my video showed, the screen response is instant for me.

But even if the audio numbers were delayed, I really don’t care since the volume goes up and down as I want it to.

Of the issues with this car, this seems soooooo minor.

But the good news? There must be an update fix because my car doesn’t do it.

About a year ago (even before the UI change) screen lag was a complaint I had and the dealer did an update that helped.

I swear Ford is using Commodore 64 processors in the car.

I think I can make a call to my friend in Japan to turn up his car volume in the time it takes the car to show the volume level indicator on the screen.
It's just waiting, reading your mind to make sure that's your final answer?

I love the car for the most part, but I have to agree, the performance of the main centerpiece of the interior is awful and probably my biggest complaint.

I'm sure it will never happen, but I hope someday we're given to option to upgrade the hardware to something that can handle the OS.

FWIW, I agree that the circular "level" graphics around the dial are often very slow to appear. For me it's most noticeable with the temp/fan settings. Just feels clunky and slow, kind of like the PAAK behavior. I work in software and I like "gadgets", so maybe my standards are different.

Here’s trying to turn the fan off. It says “OFF” but doesn’t actually turn off! I was going nuts while driving trying to figure out why it wasn’t shutting off after I saw “OFF” on the display. Horrible lag that can divert attention for way too long.

Honestly, not that much of a concern of mine. What’s a little more alarming is after startup there is severe frame lag/choppiness with the backup camera if I put it into reverse and start moving immediately.

Yes, I'm not convinced the rear camera delay meets federal standards. It also takes several seconds on my car, I'm halfway out of the garage before it shows up. Rear camera view should only take ~1/4 second to come up on the screen, not several seconds.

This thread got me to wondering, which is rarely a good thing. So I paid attention while changing volume during Monday’s drive. About 3 to 5 clicks on the knob before the index is generated. Maybe 2 seconds max. The volume still changes even without the index. I can’t say that I had ever noticed that there was brief time of indexlessness sync knobs in the past. Apparently, I’m not OCD enough after all. So now I have to decide if I can I can live with that or if I have to work on my OCD deficiency. ;)

YMMV.

I really prefer my pilots with the max level of OCD. Please do work on it.
