Sync Navigation Prompts are broken

No matter my settings, every prompt, whether voice or tone, now comes through and interrupts music. I know the trick to turn the volume all the way down when the Sync voice reminds me for the millionth time to “pay attention to the road and laws”. That trick no longer works. I turn the prompt volume as low as it will allow but as soon as the next prompt timing occurs, the car plays the voice and/or tones as if I never turned the volume down. AND the “mute” button on the map screen is completely useless as it doesn’t do anything now, other than toggle between the mute and unmute icons. I hate this SYNC so much. Still very buggy compared to Google Maps and Apple Maps. Ford devs…come on already!!!!

I can’t use SYNC navigation without being forced to have voice and/or tone prompts. I want ZERO prompts. Can’t get that with the newest updates my car received.

Because it is far superior IMO. I am a heavy navigation user and the Ford nav is by far the best that I have ever seen. I especially like how it auto zooms based on speed and will show me exactly which entrance to use at a shopping center to get closer to my suite address and the HOV lane integration is very helpful. The other nav software wants to route me on surface streets because freeway traffic is heavy but the Ford nav knows the HOV lane is free flowing and routes me on that lane instead. Yes, it tells me exactly which lane I should be in. Very nice.

Live traffic is awesome as well. Uncanny how accurate that is. It will show heavy traffic on just the southbound lane while free flowing on the northbound lanes.....not just highways, surface streets too.

The mute button on the screen works fine for me. If it doesn't work, you might need to lift the 12V terminal or do a master reset on it.

Go to the Ford Nav screen. Press the speaker icon until you're at the level of alerting you want. The nav system will always remind you to use voice commands (etc) though. It's always done that.

I like to use Ford Nav at times when I feel too lazy to go through Apple Maps.

If you mute button does not work I would take it to the dealer. Mine works fine.

I spent four months at the dealer already. OTAs need to start fixing bugs regularly! That’s the whole selling point of buying the car with OTA capabilities. My car has been at the dealer about 50% of my ownership.

Bummer. That would be annoying for sure. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Odds are your car is eligible for lemon law protection then. Or you can try what @Mach-Lee suggested above.

I find the car GPS to be more accurate than my iphone in city center with large buildings and its generally pretty good. Also, google maps doesnt put the next direction on the instrument panel. If the car had a native Spotify app I wouldnt use carplay at all. The switching between the ford nav and carplay for music/podcasts is pretty clunky.
