I ordered my Wife’s Mach-E on 3/11/22, still stuck in limbo, started building it on 12/19 hasn’t finished production. When I saw that Tesla had done this, I showed her a $54,990 Y. After tax credits it would 6k less than what we are to pay for premium SR. She looked it it, looked at me and said “I don’t care if that Tesla is 20k less and can do zero-60 in 4.8 sec. It’s ugly the dashboard is not ergonomic, and the brand is pretentious.”

Guess we will continue to wait. It’s her car. I think I’m with her though.
I spoke with a Model Y owner yesterday who told me about the pricecut. He was really upset about the immediate loss in value of his purchase. But the thing that was most interesting was his interest in my Mach e. He said his Model Y was made poorly and loved how solid my Mach E felt. I love my 2023 Mach e and would buy it again. My sister has a model Y and has stated it has poor fit an finish too. Another example of the Tesla build quality, the charging door is the flimsiest deign. It feels like it could break at any moment. I was serious about buying a Y, but I'm really pleased with my Mach E decision. Just wish the Mach E was less expensive.

Those of us who got Ford Options have a guaranteed value at maturity we can walk away from or exercise depending on values in 2025/26. Also last year not only were MYLR/P MSRP higher than MME/GT they also did not qualify for tax credit. The current deal with Tesla is attractive but the income limit quashes the tax credit oppty so net net my GT was still cheaper for me than even now with the MYP and no tax credit with the IRA limits. So no spilled milk here to cry about. Now just wish the 5s limit wasn’t there and that I did not have to worry about the HVBJB going caput one day ?

Good news! More White Teslas for everyone! The more Teslas there are on the road, the Cooler we look in our MMEs! Bring it on!
Strange you say that as white is the most popular color for cars today. So, why does that make any difference in MME vs Tesla. As a side note I will say of all the Tesla’s in my area, and there are a bunch, very few are white. ?

The Tesla white is blah, I like white cars but not that shade. Our highlander is pearlesant, the MachE Space White, but the Tesla reminds me of my old Bolt, a cheap white.

I've always been a fan of the Mach E and Ford. Ford is actually the first stock I invested in my Roth IRA over 15 years ago. Jim Farley seems like he's taking Ford in the right direction (as best possible). I have a real hard time, however, going to the Ford dealership and paying 15K over MSRP for a Mach E. It just doesn't sit right with me. I will not be taken advantage of knowingly. I ended up buying a Model Y Performance in October. The car is phenomenal to be honest. I personally like its stying though I know that is subjective. I love the acceleration, great range, dependable supercharger network, not having to pay for gas, simple elegance of the interior, and the regular updates which improve the vehicle instantaneously. We now have Apple Music so I can listen directly and there is no reason to use my phone via blue tooth. Any issues and there is a mobile service person who comes directly to my house.

Unfortunately I paid 71K for my car MY performance in October and it can now be purchased for 58K new. If it was available at the time, I would have just gotten the Long Range. So I am very bummed that I could today buy a Model Y that meets my needs for 53K and get a 7.5 K tax credit for a net cost of 45K. Basically I overpaid by over 26K which would have covered so many expenses for my wife and kids. It is not fair.

I agree that EM is a real jerk and he brings down the image of the company. Honestly, at this point, I think he is a net negative for Tesla and they would do better with a new CEO. I will not tell you TSLA is a good investment. But I will tell you Model Y is a great car and I would highly recommend it, especially at the current price. It's also made in America by hard working Americans. So if you can get over Musk, there is a lot to like.

Maybe if the price drops and no dealer markups, I'll check out Mach E for my next car but that is several years away.
So, just to get the facts straight, $71,000 was ok in Oct. and no part of you said, this is too expensive? But, now you paid too much, I would not have paid that in Oct., but hey, that’s just me.

No one will care my opinion - but after owning this car for close to one year Ford has seriously let me down at every turn.

I would prefer to own a Tesla over this. The looks of this car are just not worth the hassle.

Until you realize Tesla service sucks hard, too. My friend went in for a simple issue and they hardcore scratched his wooden dash (model S). When he got it back, he pointed it out and they said someone would reach out in 48 hours. Nothing. He keeps calling and they just keep telling him that someone will call back soon with a resolution, even when escalating to managers (uh, just replace the part!). He finally got them to agree to replace almost a full month after and a bunch of wasted hours.

Plenty of people have good success and like Tesla's service, which is the same with Ford and other OG dealers; some are great and some are not. I've personally found a great dealer and am now more confident with the MME, but understand the lack of support from your dealer really puts a sour taste in your mouth and undermines the confidence in the car itself. I'm just saying that you can get this from either side, it isn't like Tesla will be a guaranteed breeze with problems.

We just bought a MY LR. It will replace our ICE mustang so we have a second family-capable car alongside the MME. Prior to the price drop we were considering another Ford BEV (Lightning) or PHEV but this deal is a no-brainer.
For anyone that cares for purposes of making the tax credit by March - we ordered on Fri Jan 13 and the delivery date to our house is Fri Jan 20. Plenty of inventory.

I think the fact that White is the only color option Tesla offers, without an additional price increase, makes it more common on the road today. Do you remember playing "punchbuggy" every time you saw a VW bug? Try playing "White Tesla"! Loads of fun on your trip! Lol
