I'm grateful for SC access. Near me, which is to say far, far away from regions that have lots of EVs, I'm grateful for more places to charge on road trips. Generally, in low-EV-adoption areas there are enough slots to charge at SC locations and people are mellow about the two-space issue. If you drive down this way, you might find SCs useful, too.

It’s not twice…but if you don’t pay $12.99/month for the membership you are already paying more than Tesla drivers. (And always are by having to pay the $12.99)
I've compared charging rates here for tesla and EA, tesla is 26 cents an hour and EA is 30-34 cents an hour in roughly the same time of day

Nice diagrams. I try to preach the “park to the right” mantra for us opposite charge port vehicles. And Teslas should try to park to the left first to leave space for non-Teslas.
Yeah, a lot of Tesla owners were taught to space out and to leave a gap between the next car charging because V2 chargers split power. Many know that isn't the case for V3 but a lot still spread out.

I think it's just human nature to not take the spot right next to someone, if there are other choices. I also think many Tesla drivers still have the split-power logic, skipping spaces, and don't know that's not a thing anymore on most newer Tesla chargers.

Every time I drive by SC locations I see cars spread out with spaces between them. The only time I haven't seen it was the locations with more than 8 stations :)thumbsup: Buc-ees). All the local spots that have less than 8 stations leave spaces between. All of them are V3 so old habits die hard.

I just did an 800 mile trip up I-75 and loved every Tesla stop I made. Reliable plug and play with 100kw+ charge rate up to 80% every time. Zero issues, more than I can say for my EA experiences.

Yes, you have to drive right up to the curb (or if they haven't removed the curb stop, on top of it) but the front cameras make that pretty easy for me. I also found there's almost always an out-of-place spot you can pull into that's right next to a charger, but only blocks one spot. I'll document them on my return trip.

Once I plug in I get 100+kW charge rate consistently, and the receipt from Ford is in my email almost immediately after I unplug. Maybe I"m just getting lucky with stations, but Tesla feels professional whereas the EA stations do not.

Only hiccup was my first discovery of unplugging the adapter from the car FIRST, then pulling the slider on the adapter to disconnect from the Tesla cord. I tried to unplug Tesla first and that did not work well. Now that I've done it a few times it's a quick motion and I'm back on the road.

so does that mean we get to 80% quicker than at an EA station or not necessarily?

Yes, for me charge rate seems higher so it will get to 80% faster.

Your charge rate will always drop like a rock at 80%, but I feel the Tesla station consistently stays above 100kW+ power delivery up till the 80% drop. EA seems to dip below 100kW much sooner. Keep in mind there's a ton of different variables at play here, so maybe I'm just luckier at Tesla

You don’t think that if there was were multiple ford vehicles taking up more than one spot at a very busy super charger station that they wouldn’t charge more to make up the difference? I do.
And Tesla would know you're double-parked how?

Funny how its complaining about something you didn't have when you bought your car and were just given it for free. Can't please anyone ...

So I have used a few super charging stations the last few weeks and it’s not easy. All of the stations close to me have really short cords and I have had to block two spots at a time at some really busy places.

There has also been two times that I could not charge even with some spots open because of the lack of reach of the cable. So I guess this isn’t all it’s cracked up to be after all.
Your reaction to the opening of the Tesla Superchargers is like a person being given access to free donuts for life and then complaining that they prefer danish...

I think you'll find that 99 out of 100 non-Tesla owners think this is a huge improvement in the availability of chargers. Whine all you want though.

What software version gives you the "Public Charging" controls to start and stop a charge session from the center screen?

The SCs I'm most likely to visit are still V2 so I doubt I'll ever get to use them. They are located in less populated areas, not likely they'll be upgraded any time soon. It's too bad because there really aren't any other non-Tesla fast DC chargers in those areas either.

I've been to a couple of V3 sites where half of the spaces were occupied and the Teslas were using every other space. They were all positioned to make it impossible for a car with a charge port location like ours to use one. Inconvenient at worst since at those locations there were EA, EVgo, and other SC sites within a few miles (of course, at least one of the SC sites had V3 units that were OK for Fords communicaitons-wise, but the chargers themselves were set so far back from the curbs that it would be impossible to use them). ?‍♂?
