How difficult is it to remove a windshield and panoramic roof and then put it back on? Is this something a dealer can easily do or something that’s hard to get perfect outside of the factory?

I ask because if it’s something the dealer might have trouble doing just right, I might not want it done. This recall stems from Ford inspecting a Mach-E in June where they felt not enough adhesive was used. As far as I know, there hasn’t actually been an accident reported where the windshield or panoramic roof separated from impact when it should not have.

I’m not opposed to getting a stronger bond put in, but if there is a decent chance of getting the vehicle back with a windshield or roof alignment issue, or wind noise where there was none before, I’m not sure I want to take that chance on what to me seems like a pretty conservative reason to issue a recall.

Well this is a bummer, I suppose we have to eat a little crow for making fun of Tesla's roofs flying off. I mean, I don't think there have been any incidents yet, but that is exactly what this recall is trying to prevent.
Yes, absolutely, Ford is trying to avoid roofs flying off, while is working hardest trying to prevent filing recalls. So totally the same ?

For these two recalls...

Windshield: Remove and properly reattach. Auto places do this all the time. Safelite and many many others will drive a van to your location and do this at your workplace or driveway... One person, no assistant. It doesn't seem like a big deal. Windshields are always cracking and being replaced.

Panoramic roof: For this recall, Ford is specifying that the technician will clean the flange area and apply additional sealant. So there is no glass removal, thus no risk of misalignment on that panel.

See @RickMachE's post for phrasing: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...f-recall-went-out-last-nite.10667/post-267149

I reread both recalls, I'm pretty sure the panoramic roof is NOT removed, it is rather inspected and additional sealant added as needed. For the windshield which does require removal I hope they have safelite or other specialist do it.

was thinking the same, wait till it's really a problem :)
I'm kind of leaning in that direction Downside is if I trade in before having it done, it'll will affect trade in value.

I will probably wait, just because I do not want to be the first MME in line at the dealership.

Let them do a dozen or so, to get the process down, and then I will take mine in....

Am I correct, I recall reading the panoramic roof recall. It does NOT entail removal, only an inspection and added sealant as needed?

The windshield DOES have to be removed? Will they have a professional do this like safelite?
Correct. Windshield is remove and reseal. Roof is clean and add sealant.
Whether the dealer does it themselves or has someone else do it will depends on the dealership.

Dumb question maybe, but I'm seeing both recalls in FordPass app, but haven't received anything in the mail. Does the presence of the recalls in the app mean my car is definitely affected by the recall?

Does anyone know if the sealant for the roof would be applied from the outside of the vehicle or does the inside headliner need to be removed? Anyone know or care to speculate? I would be concerned about damage to the interior if it’s the latter.

Neither one for me yet. Well within the stated build dates as well.
