Kind of makes you think. I doubt if they dropped the price of the car the same amount as it costs to reinstall the parts that they removed. So they're making out by keeping the price of the MME up and making out again when customers buy the parts that they removed.
LOL I bought a used part. Then again, the joke is on me since I paid more for the used part than Mark did for his new one. 🤪🐩

I bought a used switch and escutcheon assembly from an online auto wrecker. Waiting for them to come in. I have my own terminal crimping tool and terminals so I am just going to make my own pigtails when the switch comes in. I might get fancy and buy some black and blue wire since I already have a spool of brown from the 2021’s inside liftgate switch. I still need to put the headlight switch assembly in there and run that brown wire. ??
My first Mach-E I added my own momentary switch under the console to open/close the liftgate. Second Mach-E I wired up an OEM liftgate switch in the headlamp panel like you and others did. This one just used the useless "P" (parking) button to work the liftgate.

I got my switch and escutcheon today. I am going to use a 2x3 socket housing to keep things tidy and I am color coding the wiring since I’m weird that way. ??

Installing this weekend. ??

Got the wiring and switch install done. I routed the new wiring along the driver’s side license plate light branch then to the switch area. I installed 0.1” pitch female pin connectors on the wires (brown, black, and blue because I am weird) and inserted them into a 3x2 housing. There seems to be enough friction to keep the connector on the switch’s pins using 3 in that housing. I might do some sort of positive retention mod in the future but for now it’s just friction. ??

The center liftgate release wiring and the left side license plate light wiring are part of the same trunk system, so I just removed some tape from above the branch where they separate and stripped the three wires so that I could tap into them. Left to right: Center liftgate switch connector, left side license plate light connector, and the pigtail that extends to the new left side liftgate release wiring branch. Note that the main branch was re-wrapped in a similar cloth tape to what Ford uses and that the extension branch to the new switch is also wrapped in the same tape. ??

Pin connector installed in the switch. ?‍♂?

This is how much excess wiring I planned for the switch hole. ??

And the switch hanging from the connector just before insertion into the liftgate. ??

And the boring final product. ??

You just had to show me up and make you install all professional didn’t you. ?

Part of what I did as an electro-mechanical guy was design cabling and wiring systems. At least here there is no high speed bus that I need to proof the frequerncy tolerances, impedances, and time-domain reflectance. ??

I completely understand. When it’s a wiring job under the hood in my ICE cars I make them look completely factory like yours but when it’s hidden, I don’t spend the time. ?

Oops, I forgot to note that my outboard tail light nuts were loose. The inboard ones were so sized to the studs that they unscrewed the studs from the tail lights. So I applied Loctite to the outboard ones and just made sure the inboard ones were cinched up. 🤪😁🐩

Eh, I must not have insulated something right. Doing an FDRS update today I found a DTC for rear parking lights shorted to ground. 🐩

I guess I gotta tear the liftgate apart again. 😕🐩

That's strange. Did you try clearing the DTC's a couple of times to see if it would go away?

Yeah. 6 clears through FDRS, plus a couple from my OBD-2 unit and CarScanner. I am guessing it’s the liquid electrical tape I used. First time I have ever used that stuff. Gonna unwrap the harness today and tape up the splices instead. ??

Same. PAAK has been pretty flawless for me from the beginning, but I don't trust it and carry a fob in my pocket all the time.
I am one of those people too. Regardless of how much I love and trust my iPhone, you never know what could go wrong at any time. I bought the F-150 Lightning fob as a 2nd backup and use it exclusively for opening the hatch, and I use the lower button to close it. I don't use the outside button much. My next mod will be to rectify the lack of a physical button up front by rewiring that useless park button to ground. Thanks to those who posted it!

Why do I call it a hatch? Blame the Big 3. Back in the old days that's what they called it. If it has a solid bulkhead and a package tray (remember them?) at the front it's a trunk. If it passes through to the cabin it's a hatch! So much for my navy lingo ⚓

Steve, did you notice when you took off the liftgate trim panel to install the illuminated switch that the panel was missing 4 metal clips? Mine was and they are all in the center in a square about 12" apart. I added them onto the trim panel when I reinstalled it. I had that panel off on both the other MME's and those clips were there. Not sure if this was just mine or if all '24's do not have these clips. I did not take a photo of the studs with the missing clips but should have. In case you want to get extras, I have some.

I didn’t notice. Now I want to pull it off and check LOL. Probably not today though 😁🐩
