I ordered a RWD ER via Think Ford Guilford and have just changed Dealers. Not impressed with Think Ford - rang them three times nobody rang me back - called in to see them and they didn't have a clue! So spoke to Ford Online sales and they helped me change to Hendy Ford - much better!
I spoke to Ford UK this afternoon but the two guys dealing with the Mach E were busy so they are gonna call me tomorrow, I will discuss changing dealers with them, which Hendy dealer did you choose?

Did you have to cancel your order, get deposit back and start again or did they allow you to just change dealer and keep original order?
No thankfully didn't have to cancel the order and start again the guys at Ford Online organised it for me.

I have gone for Hendy in Portsmouth as I live near Petersfield - there is also a Hendy in Redhill which may be a bit closer to Guildford

I live in St Albans but nominated Gates of Stevenage as I find the people there provide a better service (have 4 Ford's in the family that are serviced there). Have used Gates St Albans but have never found them helpful or knowledgeable. I purchased my current Mustang from Trustford Edgware road, but they are too busy and have let me down on many occasions. After a lot of pushing I got my VIN number from Gates Stevenage a few days ago and they sent this as a status update (which I assume is from their Vista system?):

No Projected Build Month and the ETA Dealer W/E date of 12th June 2021, is now 3 weeks later than the 20 to 23 weeks given at confirmed order stage. This is my pecking order:

Vehicle ordered : Mustang Mach-E FE AWD ER in Rapid Red

Pre-order date. : 18/11/2019 (early morning, must have been the first in the UK to order!)
Vehicle built : no details given
Order confirmed : 11/12/2020

Estimated delivery timeframe shown at time of order conversion : 20-23 weeks (either (30/04/2021 to 21/05/2021 latest). The Tracker tool does not yet give a Production Date.

I think I've counted at least 3/4 of us living in or around St Albans, looks like I will be seeing yours on the road before mine!
I've also got a pre-order with Gates Stevenage. Who did you speak to who gave you the VIN Number?

Now I have My VIN, I'm able to view the General Information tab on the tracker. The Exteriror, Interior, etc tabs don't load anything. Is that normal?

Yep it’s normal - the tracker is designed for US vehicle configurations, so it gets a bit confused with a UK model.

I managed to change my colour without affecting my dates thanks to the Ford Mach-e CS team. Mostly sorted out via emails. They are snowed under but once you get a place in the queue on their CRM they are very efficient.

I'm glad I could change the colour as my wife was really upset I went off piste and chose a colour without written approval. Apparently I steeped outside of my responsibilities and I had no right to do such a thing. I think I've avoided a written warning!!

Spoke to Stacy, although with the 3rd lockdown, I expect most of the sales staff are furloughed again (my last email went unanswered)!. I understand that there is no one person dealing with the Mach-E orders, they seem to be split across various staff. I would ask to speak to the sales manager dealing with the Mach-E's.

I see from a facebook group another UK buyer has bailed out of his order. They are dropping like flies. My dealer had 14, lost 6 when the email to confirm our orders came out and as of Monday had lost another 3. He did say he had a couple of others interested though. Could be one of the reasons some on here are getting long estimates for delivery especially if the factory is on batch production

surely if people are bailing out on their order our estimates should be shorter?

It depends on whether they have built the cancelled ones. If they are doing a production run of 30 at a time as has been suggested on here then if 10 cancel in theory the production run wouldn't start until they had got another 10. It is all down to the factory.

I’m amazed people wait a year and then bail out. It might be more to do with the economy than the car. Mind you, I cancelled my ID3 order due to poor VW information. There are lots of Bots on Farcebook. Probably the fan boys playing games.

I don’t think it’s that simple. The landscape at the time most of us placed our preorders is vastly different to what we’re facing now. We are in the middle of a 3rd lockdown and most of us haven’t driven further than Tesco or Sainsbury’s in the past 12 months, with no end in sight. Buying a 50 grand ride that’s going to spend more time on your driveway than on the road arguably makes little to no sense.

By the way, my preorder is due in March and I don’t intend on cancelling it but It makes complete sense to me why others would bail.

yep some very valid points. I’m coming from a cost saving perspective with BiK savings and running costs. My Mach-e will save me a fortune up against my Discovery. It’s close to half the costs.

you’re spot on about uncertainty. That said I bet Ford will sell a lot of these. The Mach-e is good value against competition.
