Hey Guys,

The difference in dealership quality is insane!

As some of you may remember, after the disappointing delivery date estimate of 21/5/21 on my First Edition (Pre-ordered 18/11/19 - confirmed 11/12/20), I placed a completely new order with a different dealer for a RWD ER on 18/12/20.

The dealer for 2nd order (no pre-order made at all) has just called me to say the car is in production today with an indicated delivery date of 17/4. I'm flabbergasted.

I then called Rebecca on the concierge team to tell her. Her only explanation is that it is a cancelled pre-order that has been allocated to me as production was scheduled for ALL pre-orders made and Ford haven't waited for orders to be confirmed first.

She also told me that Ford US's "story" about the batches isn't quite correct as there seem to be a real mixture of drivetrains and battery sizes in each batch.

It looks pretty clear to me (and her) that pre-order dates have NOT been taken into account when production was scheduled but that they have "tried their best" to match pre-orders to the production cars as best as possible.

This is why the dates are all over the place.

She is still waiting for a production date for my First Edition and is incredibly embarrassed by the whole situation.

I can strongly recommend to anyone in the Hertfordshire area Hartnells in Hemel Hempstead if they wanted to change dealership (which is possible without losing your "place" in the queue).

I will keep you posted.

Oh! If someone is looking for Grabber Blue First Edition for delivery May/June let me know. I may be able to pass the order on!

I was considering going for the HES loan but I haven’t heard of a grant. The loan was originally for up £35,000 and is now down to £28,000 which could be paid back over 6 years.

At that point, all they needed was a quote for the new vehicle on company headed paper along with application form. Not sure what has changed if anything.

Would be interested to know what grant they’re doing.

When I looked into it originally I did hear that the application process was a wee bit archaic. Since they’ve lowered the loan amount I’m going down another route.
Yeh sorry it’s a loan, not a grant I was referring to. Seems getting quote on headed paper from dealer isnt as simple as should be. Just had something sent through though from them which I’m hoping will suffice. re the loan I had initially applied for the £35k amount but never firmed up as the MME was delayed. Then when I went to firm up it had dropped to £28k however I spoke to HES and they agreed that I can still get the £35k as I wasn’t advised of the change. Which is a result. ?

Yet Spencer ordered after me and gets an April delivery date!
I didn't pre-order that one at all. I suppose I was lucky that my 2nd choice colour was Carbonised Grey. It really does highlight the shambles that they have made of the production allocations though.

That’s good news. Fingers crossed you get it sorted. When I was researching the loan I found more information on the scheme on Tesla owner forums as they were the ones mostly using it.

I think Tesla finally got the hang of the process as they’ve had a few applications.
No doubt Ford will be still trying to get their heads round it!

Just a quick update on my dealer, Gates of St Albans. Still have absolutely no details whatsoever on any of their assigned orders. They really seem like they don't care at all. They said they think all of their orders may have an April build date but nothing specific.

April build date seems to imply June delivery not May but who knows. Until there's a VIN I'm in the dark.

Gates are about as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Has anyone else on here been "assigned" Gates of St Albans? I'd be interested in seeing if anyone else has an opinion of them.
I live in St Albans but nominated Gates of Stevenage as I find the people there provide a better service (have 4 Ford's in the family that are serviced there). Have used Gates St Albans but have never found them helpful or knowledgeable. I purchased my current Mustang from Trustford Edgware road, but they are too busy and have let me down on many occasions. After a lot of pushing I got my VIN number from Gates Stevenage a few days ago and they sent this as a status update (which I assume is from their Vista system?):
Ford Mustang Mach-E UK Customers 1609857018795

No Projected Build Month and the ETA Dealer W/E date of 12th June 2021, is now 3 weeks later than the 20 to 23 weeks given at confirmed order stage. This is my pecking order:

Vehicle ordered : Mustang Mach-E FE AWD ER in Rapid Red

Pre-order date. : 18/11/2019 (early morning, must have been the first in the UK to order!)
Vehicle built : no details given
Order confirmed : 11/12/2020

Estimated delivery timeframe shown at time of order conversion : 20-23 weeks (either (30/04/2021 to 21/05/2021 latest). The Tracker tool does not yet give a Production Date.

I think I've counted at least 3/4 of us living in or around St Albans, looks like I will be seeing yours on the road before mine!

There really has been one monumental FU with the FE! So I'm saving £10k, getting an extra 40 miles per full charge and getting my car at least 2 months earlier!

Mine was a pre-order so I think the concierge Rebecca isn't necessarily right with her belief that production was scheduled for all pre orders.

Makes sense but I'm in it for the long term, so going to stick with the FE.

I'm so torn. I LOVE the Grabber Blue and also the extra performance from the AWD but my other car is an Alfa 4C so I'll get my thrills from that. If my FE production date comes back as quite soon, I'll keep the FE otherwise, I'll take the saving and the extra milage.

Is anyone using Think Ford in Guildford, just spoke to them, who can’t apparently see if an order is placed or anything to do with Mach E orders as they are being processed by a Ford UK Department and Think Ford won’t know anything or be able to check the order until the vehicle is on the way to them?
I ordered a RWD ER via Think Ford Guilford and have just changed Dealers. Not impressed with Think Ford - rang them three times nobody rang me back - called in to see them and they didn't have a clue! So spoke to Ford Online sales and they helped me change to Hendy Ford - much better!

Did you have to cancel your order, get deposit back and start again or did they allow you to just change dealer and keep original order?

Rebecca told me today that it is possible to change the dealer but it has to be done as a special order by Ford UK not the the dealers themselves.

She told me today that if my FE production date gets brought forward (or even allocated would be a start) to a date I am happy with, then she would change the dealer for me.
