It's only a guess on my behalf, although I think it makes a good logic. I've never owned a car with two different keys before, and customers would definitely question it. Much more sensible to have a matching pair in my opinion, no matter what the style.

As an aside, I've kept this in but feel like throwing caution to the wind: I feel sorry for the chap who was hounded out of the WhatApp group the other night for having a differing opinion to the hive mind on keys, treating him second class because he "only ordered in February" and giving the impression his opinions weren't as valid because he hasn't waited as long just isn't on for what should be a friendly group.

I've been a car enthusiast all my life and I've never seen such insular bickering before amongst a group of people who should have a shared interest.

I only ordered in April, and guess what, I don't give a toss about keys either. I think you've all been frustrated for so long you've lost any perspective of a bit of plastic that lives entirely in your pocket.

Those of you who preordered in 2019 had no idea what the key looked like at the time, and I guarantee you wouldn't have cared if it came with a Ford key back then.

Feel free to block me/kick me out of the WhatApp group whatever for "only ordering in April" and daring to have an opinion, I don't care. I came here to discuss an exciting new car and learn about it with others, and I'll keep contributing to those discussions where I can.
That was me, I left as I can see the way an un-moderated whatsapp group was going.... a couple of people's opinion are pushed and other peoples bullied out of the way.
Yes I ordered 1-Feb, car was stated as 12 weeks so 1-May ish. Now may arrive mid to end June possibly. So I have a late car just like the people that confirmed their orders end Dec 2020.
The lack of communication from Ford is a big problem for me, I spent yesterday trying to work out if I can stretch to an I Pace contacting dealers at Jaguar which has been a nice experience so far.
Not saying this is 100% route I'll go down but Ford's lack of communication, the WhatsApp debacle and general lack of clarity on the car (and keys) spec is ruining what should be a nice experience. The huge buffer I had between 1-May and my lease expiring is now a massive cause for concern.

The car looks like an absolute menace - and I want, just need to check if a dog and pram can fit in the back once they hit dealers

BUT if they give me those 90's keys with key blades that don't fit for a £50k car I will laugh and walk out - makes you wonder what else they cheaped out on

grabbing your keys should be the moment that gets you excited about the drive to come, if grabbing generic Halfords black fobs is their answer then no wonder Tesla has made inroads into their business
Totally agree.

I’ve driven Mercs, BM’s Volvo’s and a lot of American cars in the past.

The key is the first impression for the car. It is the statement of what is about to follow. Ive not had a Jag but the keys ooooze quality.

If I’d wanted a s#!te key I would have bought a s!#te car. At half the price!

not for me. I ordered my First Edition on the release date in November 2019. Since then, I have been feed a pile of ? from Ford mostly emanating from the US. I am genuinely really happy to see a few people Strat to receive their cars over here BUT during the time their cars were en route from Antwerp to the UK, my delivery date has been put back ANOTHER 3 weeks. There are no floodgates here I can assure, just angry customers who cancelling their orders and losing whatever faith the had in the Ford brand.
Hi everyone.
I also Pre-Ordered my First Edition back in November 2019 and confirmed my order on 12th December 2020. I think it has been very poor of Ford to keep pushing back orders for people who put down £1000 deposit and ordered the First Edition when back in 2019.
They told us that it would be a priority build but I am now being told from my dealer that delivery date has been pushed back from 12th June to middle of July.
This whole experience has made me think if I have made the right decision buying a Ford.

I did write you a message just before you left but by the time I pressed enter you'd left!

Just found it and it says 'I think you're misinterpreting something James. Your opinion is just as valid as anyones. What I will say is Spencer was going through the mill long before a lot of us.'

This was after you indicated you didn't see your opinion as being equal.

Passions are high right now, people are furious. That's an observation and you can see it all the time now instead of occasionally! I couldn't keep up with what was going on, and then you were gone!

My lease expired in January! And the car went back so I know your frustrations.

I wrote to her on the 18th December. Never got a reply.

"Dear Lisa,

I have received many emails from you since I placed my pre-order for a Mustang Mach E First Edition 13 months ago to the day.

I confirmed my order the moment I received my email asking to confirm it. I was shocked and massively disappointed to have an estimated delivery date of 21st May 2021. Having been looking forward to getting the car since the release date I have been active on some Mach E forums. My disappointment was further compounded when other customers were excited about their March and April delivery dates. As a director of a Trade Finance company, I understand more than most the issues that have plagued international trade in both procurement and logistics.

What I fail to understand is that, after being told the following through out the year by Ford, that my build is not even schedules for production yet :-

1. “CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'RE AHEAD OF THE PACK” - 18/11/19
2. "We’ve successfully loaded your pre-order into our ordering system and we’ll confirm when and how you can complete your order to be one of the first in the UK to receive your all-electric Mustang Mach-E.” - 15/5/20
3. We expect deliveries to begin in the UK in early 2021 but can confirm, that as one of our pre-order customers, you are at the front of the queue. “ - 22/5/20
4. Your pre-order number has been randomly generated and we’ll be prioritising production using your pre-order date as much as possible. - 8/10/20
5. Your order number has been randomly generated and we schedule vehicle production according to your pre-order date. - 11/12/20.

I have just been informed by Rebecca, one of the concierges of the following :-

"The Mustang Mach-E production facility works on a batch build process, so vehicles of the same specification are built together in a fixed volume batch. Customers were able to order not only the First Edition from the start, but other Mach-E models as well. The vehicles were then scheduled for production in the order of when the order was placed, no matter whether they were a First Edition or alternatively a RWD Extended range for example. In cases where there were not enough early orders to complete a batch, the balance has had to be fulfilled by pulling forward earlier orders of the required specification, hence some later orders will end up getting built earlier than would have been anticipated.

Some of most popular models are experiencing longer production times due to the above."

The above is full of contradictions based on pre-order and orders on the Forum. If the First Edition was sold out in December 19, how could there not be enough orders to allocate production. It makes no sense.

I will forward my reply to Rebecca’s email which details my anger and concerns but I feel that I have been misled over the past year and feel cheated that people who pre-ordered a car in September and October this year will get to appreciate the car 2 months before I will.

I really think people who ordered First Editions, if they are all delayed as suggested above, deserve more than a little pair of headphones.

I hope I receive a more productive reply than I did from Rebecca.

Kind regards,

Spencer Saffer

PS. I placed another order today for the RWD ER model and my expected delivery date is 7 days after my 13 month old pre-order.

Both order numbers are below so you can check that fact. The First Edition was pre-ordered at 13:00 on 18/11/19 :-"
Hi, what email did you use for Lisa Brankin. Appreciate you didn't get a reply but could you share the address with me/forum. Need to escalate a complaint on the fiasco and false promises of Ford's UK high speed charging network (specifically lack of it).

I too ordered mine in April, and I agree entirely with all you say. I have a great looking sexy Toyota C-HR on my drive (don't laugh, it is all that, and we may well keep it once the MME arrives...) But the key is just a featureless functional thing which sits in a pocket. Keyless start and entry means it's never used as a key as such.

I'm more interested in the Car and learning from you lucky ones who have got theirs delivered!

… general lack of clarity on the car (and keys) spec is ruining what should be a nice experience.
If you have any specific queries over specifications etc you are always welcome to drop me a direct message on here. As clued up I as I was on the vehicle before taking delivery there were still one or two specs that I wasn’t sure if I’d get or not until the day it arrived.

I’m always happy to help (and that goes for everybody else as well)

Really sorry to hear this - what aspect of the network has disappointed you specifically? I know they are pushing the Ionity brand quite hard on the website when there are literally only a handful in the UK, but the FordPass Connect Charging network has partnered with lots of other companies, and there are hundreds and hundreds of Rapid chargers available as part of that deal.

This is the car I got my test drive in. It’s a SR AWD and I think it’s carbonised grey. Anyone else confirm?
