OK - so I apologise in advance - this is gonna piss some people off, and give others hope.

I ordered a RWD ER a year ago, and I was lucky to be in the early build run. My car was built on 3rd December 2020 and is currently undergoing final QA at the factory.

I have an estimated delivery of mid March 2021 (my web order placed last week said 14-16 weeks)

Today I received the VIN number and my FordPass App has allowed me to add the vehicle.

I know what you mean. I’m still in shock that I actually got the email as well! It goes to show that Ford gets it right at the important bit....when they’re actually getting someone to order a car! ?

Although didn’t go smoothly. My finance has been cancelled and I’ve to contact my dealer. I see that seems to be common thing so will see how that develops!

Either way I’m sure the forum will pick up once the shock wears off...
You and me both. I think Edgware have heard from both of us on this recently. Lol.

Crikey... that escalated quickly. I’ve not checked in here for 2 days! Very really do I end up in a TLDR situation on the UK customers thread. lol.

Ive made my peace with it all. The world has changed a lot since this car was launched. Expecting business as usual is bonkers. Put yourselves in the shoes of the poor Concierges and community managers we have harranged all year. As someone else pointed out somewhere on here, it’s just a car... far more important things going on in life right now. We are early adopters, that alone should allow some forgiveness... never mind being in the midst of 2020. But at the end of the day, by May next year we are all going to be driving our cars... and going by the media reviews we’ve seen today we should be very f**king excited about that. Make your peace with the process. You’re not going to change a thing other than your blood pressure.

I confirmed my order last Friday.

Since then website status is "2 of 3 actions completed" with final outstanding action "complete payment, dealer will be in touch".

I've been in contact with dealer several times since and whilst they can see my order they are stating they don't know how to confirm final pricing of MME (?) and they hope to get updates soon on how to process my order.

Bizarre and frustrating.

I had been told by ford previously I can expect car March. However, when I was finally able to confirm order last week I'm now advised 20 to 23 weeks, so probably May . But if my dealer hasn't been advised how to process online orders then god knows when I'll get into production.

There is no denying it's been pretty shambolic.

Well that is me in the dog house with the wife. Stayed up most the night watching/reading the reviews that were released yesterday. I think I can say without fear of rebuke that we have ordered a very nice car. Most of the ones I looked at were very enthused by the car and how good it was and what a game changer it should be. Some were at little less keen but overall I didn't see a BAD review. I think there are still some to see so that might change but as things stand at them moment our patience, I think, is going to be rewarded big time.

When did you pre-order?

From what I can make out, production was scheduled on pre-orders way before we confirmed. We have seen on this group that people already have their VIN No's and their cars have been made already.

What we don't know is how Ford (UK or World-wide) allocated those orders. That's what I'm trying very hard to get to the bottom of. My feeling is that they will never come clean how those allocations were made as it lines them up for misrepresentation during the past year.

I'm still trying very had to find someone with First Edition arriving before 20-23 weeks. Those bespoke scuff plates and colour coded wheel arches must be a real bugger to make!!!

I watch quite a few too. Some Tesla fans are coming round to the fact that there's a new player in town!

I also stayed up late watching them. I am worried that European reviews were not as good. However I’m sure it’s going to be fine.

Apart from placing our preorders into the ordering (Vista) system I don't think FordUK have had any say in the scheduling. I think that is all down to the factory or those in Dearborn so I think you will be very lucky if you get an answer to that question.
I think the original idea was to launch in US and EUR/UK at the same time but we all know why that all went pear shaped. They then concentrated on getting the cars to the US customers first just so they can still say they delivered by the end of 2020. They couldn't do this this side of the pond because of the travel times.. I have no idea why one version is easier to make than another apart from the fact that it could be down to supplies. Mine is a RWD ER and was supposedly made on 3/12 and is sitting in Mexico. I managed to contact my dealer and he gave me part of my VIN and an estimated delivery date. I managed to piece together the remaining part of my VIN and have found a window sticker for it. Has your dealer not managed to give you any information at all? As you have said, your FE is pretty much an AWD ER car. so it does seem strange that it hasn't been made yet as there has been someone on here saying that his AWD ER has also been made. My understanding is that the plant is a batch scheduling plant. If this is true then perhaps there isn't sufficient numbers of a RHD FE on the system. Admittingly this doesn't help you getting your car but could be the reason why you have this problem.

My dealer is about as much use as air conditioning in an igloo. They didn't even have a copy of the sales contract that they "signed" albeit electronically. I had to tell them my order number. I'm still waiting for a call back from them from Monday when he said "I'll call you back in a couple of hours".

If Ford UK knew that they had no control of the order allocations, then they should not have been saying continuously during the year that orders would be produced as per your pre-order date when it appears that the production schedule has not really taken pre-order dates into account.

I'm really not letting this go. People who ordered First Editions paid a premium for that and have been told all the way through that we will be "among the first" to receive our cars. Ford have a lot to answer for and giving a pair of earphones (only once you have taken delivery of the car) to compensate for the delays only rubs salt in the wounds as people will be receiving that "very generous gift" before us who have been let down and have to wait an extra 6/7 months for our cars.

I apologise if I'm boring people on here but I'm pissed off big time at both the way it's been handled and the total lack of knowledge/communication by the "dealer" that I had no choice with using.

They seem to have produced a lot of Grabber Blue First Editions as the demo cars so I'm not sure its parts orientated.

I can't believe that there aren't enough RHD First Editions on the system. The UK sold out of FE's very quickly.

If the last 9 months has taught me anything it’s a sense of perspective.

It’s a car. People have lost love ones. Other’s have lost their livelihoods.

I’ve ordered this car so that I’ve a wee bit of light to look forward to at the end of this dark tunnel. It’s more that I would usually spend but I thought: ‘Why not?’

There been far worse things this year than our communication ‘issues’. These are understandably frustrating and usually I would probably be going mad about them although I’ve been relatively unaffected (apart from lack of emails!) Somehow, this year I’m just going with the flow.

We’re the lucky ones that we’ve got a shiny new car to look forward to....at some point. ???

The only weekness I can see is the battery life (as per all other EVs) when an ICE user like myself who does higher mileage. And also the price compared to buying a similar ice car like a kuga. So I can only see issues for first time EV converters like myself.

And you have to either suck it up and be realistic thus go for the ER version and pay a lot of money (£47k) or continue to spend a lot of dosh on petrol.

Another issue is it appears to drop to roughly 2miles per kwh when doing motorway speed. That hits the range massively.

You are right.

In saying that, I have had to make plans around the date of receiving that car. I had another child pass their test and moved around cars within the family to accommodate that. The fact is I'm having to drive for at least an extra 2 months and put excess miles on a car that is appreciating in value and not made for winter driving.

And why should Ford get away with such a huge misrepresentation? It's been shambolic unless you ordered the car recently and were totally aware of the delivery issues.

I do note that you have been relatively unaffected and I wish you lots of luck in your new car. Maybe you can come round and let me have a drive of it when you get it so I can have a chance to drive one before I get mine 2 months later!

I wonder if the motorway speed figures can be improved with software tweaks in the future?
