Would still like to know where you heard/read that less than 100 cars have had the issue.
286 cars in the USA have been notified of having the issue.

so far 286/48924 = 0.58% of cars so far effected. So more chance of getting a flat tyre IMHO. However, it's worth playing safe.

In the year I have had the car I have had 1 chip in my windscreen repaired, have had 1 windscreen replaced, had 2 chips repaired in that windscreen and have 1 nail and 1 screw in my tyres. So what are my odds of having the contactor issue then. My car is subject to the recall so regardless of whether I have had a problem or not my car is still affected.

Mine also is affected by the contactor recall and for good measure stuck 2.3.0(2.6.0) update. Booked in for end of July for both issues.

MME RR ER RWD ?
Country flag
I am not sure whether this is coincidental, having had 2 software update notifications, or an ongoing issue but this week I have noticed that I have a problem with my near side rear lights.
The left and centre lights on the bottom row seem to have become VERY temperamental. They DON'T illuminate more than they do. They should come on when I approached the car but don't. They don't always come on when the lights are on. All the others light up when I open the tailgate handsfree. The interesting thing is that the indicators still seem to work fine. Any one else had this issue? Just booked it in for investigation.
Hi @portlandg

Just checked mine as I had to go out and close the windows ....... really hot here today!

They all seemed fine, both on approach and opening the boot, and closing - I have also just had the recent 2 software updates (to 2.6.0).

Sorry if that doesn't really help.

Hope you get it sorted ?

Go with the MME if I were you. If you've had your car for a while with no issues relating to the battery and charging, then you should be fine! The 'new issues' aren't really new, it's just that Ford have realised there is a problem with some cars that needs a fix (so if yours is fine, then I wouldn't worry too much).

If you've got an extended range MME, then there are few other EVs that can compete on a long roadtrip. I've driven mine from London down to the Alps, Cornwall, and the Lake District with no charging issues.
Hi @BlackheathDiggs

Hope all is well!

Just out of interest, how do you plan your charging on those long trips .... sorry if this sounds a bit naive?

I've an RWD ER and only ever had to use the motorway charging network twice in the year I've had the car (always managed to find a hotel or similar at our destination with a reasonable charger!)

My two times were Fleet M3 Northbound - only 2 ancient chargers, both in use and lots of waiting cars, a full car park so I was parked about 100 metres from the chargers, and absolute torrential rain ?Had to abandon and travel slowly across country roads to get home!

More recently, Exeter M5 Services - Gridserve an absolute breeze, although when I left all 12 were in use ?

Do you plan your route using Zap-map or Plug-share and pick the likely chargers?
Do you try and arrive "off-peak" e.g. mid morning not lunchtime?
If they are in use, how/where do you park to "get in the queue"?
Do you use chargers just off the motorway?

Sorry for all the questions, but the Fleet experience was truly unnerving and although Gridserve Exeter was brilliant I wondered what I would have done if they were all in use when I arrived ?

Any advice?
Kind regards
David

In the road trips I have done in the year I have had the car I have used the following DC chargers.
Gridserve forecourt Braintree - no issues, great experience.
Instavolt Necton Norfolk - as above
Winchester services (mainly NB) - good empty on arrival
Exeter's service - All busy on arrival but only waited about 2 minutes
Bridgewater services M5 - good, empty on arrival
Gloucester services M5 - not bad, had to wait 10 minutes but they were old units at that time.
Chievley services M4/A34 - good
Cherwell Valley services - not to bad
Milton Keynes coach way - all BP Pulse chargers full with taxis either charging or just blocking. Used Ionity. Good
I have also used a couple of BP Pulse DC chargers. The only one I haven't had an issue with is the one in Weymouth. As I have charging at home (Portland) and at work (Weymouth) I have only used it twice. Once to test the car and once to test the works van.
I have been making a point of trying to use hotels etc at my destinations who have charge points at them. Seems to work quite well. Makes the investigation of where to go a bit more interesting too.

Just remembered. Winchester services NB are capable of charging 2 at once on both points. Winchester SB will only charge 1 at a time.

You still need to "pay" although it is zero

Any clues for the future OTAs we may get? Just have 2.6.0 but we won’t get Blue Cruise. Many of the updates now seem to be Blue Cruise focused.

Even though there has been a low reported rate of incidents all current Mach-Es have to potential to fail due to the contractor issue, they all have the same part and things connected to it. The thing that controls whether you ever see the failure is down to how you drive. The failure case seems to be that you just finish charging on a high power rapid and then accelerate away quickly, the connector will be hot from charging and then will get a heat load by the power going the other way.

mid you only ever charge at home and don’t routinely floor it then you may never see the issue.

regardless it’s a potential hazard so they have to declare the issue and say it could affect 100% of the cars. The OTA “fix” will not fix it, just reduce the power flow in and out of the battery, so slower charging at high power and lower acceleration. They’ve not said yet if this will just be in place until parts are available to replace the connectors. Which will never happen as a software update is way cheaper.

Hi @portlandg

Many thanks for your thoughts and experience - that is really incredibly helpful, especially the M4/M5 ones which I'll use on our next trip ?

Best wishes,
David

I have been reading the reviews/news items that I missed while I was away on Electrifying.com and see that the new Genisis brand are offering their new EV owners 5 years free subscription to the Shell and Ionity networks which will, according to the article, give them a discounted price for an Ionity charge of 24p/kwh. As Ford have a share in that network it is a real shame that they don't appreciate us MME owners enough to offer us the same. Just goes to show how important we are to them (not).
I must admit I keep looking at the GV60 and thinking, is this going to be my next car.
Genesis seem hell bent on customer service.
Not sure how soon next would be though.

You have an electrical fault due to water having penetrated into the one of the lights electrics.
