It was previous 'awaiting shipping'? Are they taking cars back into the factory to have something fixed or checked?Primary status changed back to in production today ??![]()
Yep, tethered would be more convenient but you are stuck with type 2 cable. The universal you would need to use the cable which comes with the car.I'm looking at the podpoint 'universal' and 'tethered' products. I assume I can pick either and the tethered version is for convenience so you dont need to get your own cables out?
But the down side of tethered is an untidy cable handing off the box plus if that gets vandalised you are stuck?
It was awaiting shipping for 24 hours and changed back to in production. It was quite nice to see some change even if it was for a short time. At least it looks like they are doing something with our cars with the changes on the tracker, emails and charging passes arriving on some doormats yesterday ?It was previous 'awaiting shipping'? Spookily as you posted this I was having a look and at the moment I am edging towards an untethered sync ev. It has the edge over the EO Mini Pro 2 as no earth rod is required. I prefer the small unintrusive look of these than those bigger options and those tethered but it's down to personal choice. If money is no object then the Anderson looks very neat.I'm looking at the podpoint 'universal' and 'tethered' products. I have the tethered so I don't have to attach my cable each time, when not in use it wraps around my pod point charger and looks neat. Would drive me crazy having to get out the cable each time and I'd probably get lazy and leave it in there anyway. It means my cable is always in my car if I need it. I also have a granny charger which I have never used.Yep, tethered would be more convenient but you are stuck with type 2 cable. I guess you're right that the tethered can be vandalized, but then the actual universal point can be vandalized too.
I prefer the cleaner look of something without the cable. But not having had an EV before, can anyone advise me on if I went for the universal option. Could someone detach the cable and steal it? Or does the cable "lock" to the car when the car is locked?
I have heard that in some YouTube videos. People accidentally leave it at home and it’s an issue when you need it.I have the tethered so I don't have to attach my cable each time, when not in use it wraps around my pod point charger and looks neat. I think it's only an issue if you are going on a road trip and don't intend to use rapid chargers that much. Then you just add it to the going away check list. I've seen people leave their Type2 cable in a public charger on numerous occasions. There's no accounting for stupid! ?I have heard that in some YouTube videos. People accidentally leave it at home and it’s an issue when you need it.
...and I would say that that extract is the best written description of how to look after your battery I have ever read!I'm an EV newbie and I'm sure this battery stuff is all very familiar to the rest of you - but if there are any other newbies out there, this is from the battery section of the Mach-E manual;
BATTERY
You can increase the battery life by maintaining your state of charge below 100%.
Allowing your battery to cool before charging and setting the maximum state of charge to 90% for everyday usage improves longevity of your high voltage battery.
When you park your vehicle for an extended period of 30 days or more, we recommend your battery be at an approximately 50% state of charge. Storing your vehicle's high voltage battery at higher states of charge is less favourable than storing at lower states of charge.
Note: To achieve this state of charge for storage, you can drive your vehicle down to 50% and set a charge limit for your location. See Setting the Charging Schedule and Preferences (page 159).
CHARGING
AC charging is the preferred method of charging. AC charging preserves the health of the battery for longer battery life.
We recommend limiting the amount of DC charges, and ending DC charges at 80% state of charge as charging between 80 and 100% can incur high charging costs due to the time to completion.
Frequent use of DC charging could result in reducing your battery’s efficiency and lifespan. This is more pronounced on the standard range battery pack versus the extended range battery pack.
