It's hard to believe but mine has gone back from in transit to awaiting shipment and the 03 has disappeared!

Ok so now that it looks like some cars may actually be making their way towards a big shiny ship and could actually be with us April/May, has anyone (who doesn’t already have one) started looking at chargers and compared the various options. in Scotland we get the Ā£350 OLEV contribution, plus another Ā£300 from Energy Savings trust. What’s best one to get? (Portlandg - did consider just putting in commando socket you suggested but with these grants available would be daft not to just get a charger put in)

I did consider getting a wall box but when I looked at the charging rate of the Variopower lead with a commando plug/socket and the wall box I just didn't think it I could justify over £500 even with the grant when there wasn't that much difference in rates

Funny you should say that - I had my charging point installed today.

As I have solar I went with zappi from myenergi.

The app is really useful as you can see from the screenshot the excess solar that normally goes to the grid for a pittance will go into my car. Even though it's a dull day in Wales still getting some free charge.

PS car has once again gone to transit from awaiting shipping , so I am now going to ignore until i see shipped.

I got onto my Ford Main Dealer for Kent, Haynes of Maidstone, back in December last year. he gave me a British Gas website to go to as they are the contractors Ford are using for home installations. I had to fill in some boxes and tick the Ford vehicle I would be using. The Mach-E was not on the list! I got back to Haynes and below is the reply I got on 2nd December 2020.

All very unsatisfactory.

Hi Graham,

I have heard back from Ford. The Mach-E has not been added on the system as they have not yet certified the vehicle through British Gas. The lady I spoke to at Ford did not have a date as to when this was going to happen. Rest assure it will be in place in time for when the Mach-E’s turn up so you can have the installation done before deliver but unfortunately not this early.

Kind regards,

Further to my previous post I have today chased Haynes again. They will be trying to get more info re when the First Editions are going into production. I also chased them re the wall box installation. This is his reply a few minutes ago.

"There is online training for dealers next week on the wallbox process, so I should know more about it after then, but as I understand the process currently, we submit a customer’s details online to British Gas and then they take matters over from there."

I will be in touch again, once we have had the training on the wall box process."

As I said before - all very unsatisfactory

I gave up on the Ford charger, it should be ready to order just like the charge card they posted to us all. They should have the home charger ready to order right now.. I've ordered podpoint. I would not rely on them to take my bins out on time let alone organise a home charger.

I think it's cheaper than Fords and Ford can't organise a system for supplying a £50k car right now without huge amounts of stress so I wont be putting further business their way and I don't think they are making any effort to get that business. The perception coming across is they don't care about customers anymore.

They have had over a year to get their act together. They can't/won't tell us why our cars have been built for weeks but not shipped, they can't/won't tell us when they are going to be shipped, the dealers don't know much more than we do. This is by far the most important car Ford have released since the Model T and it is by far the worst experience me and my family have had when buying a new Ford and between us we had about 20. It will have to be something spectacular for me to buy another after this one

I think they need to scrap the online ordering experience, and go back to the dealer system where customer service exists. There has been no one responsible/accountable using this new system.

So I’ve now got a ā€˜ship date’ of 09/02/2021 on the tracker. A reply from Ford’s customer services that I got today stated that they cannot view any estimated delivery or collection dates. I should get an email when it is estimated that I may get the car.
They also didn’t have a clue about why I was sent an email saying the spec of my car had changed. So much for hoping that they’d thrown in a few extra batteries!?
The whole thing has been a farce and has taken the shine off a wee bit to be honest.

As for charge point I’m probably going to go for Pod Point although if I’m feeling a bit flush I may got for the Andersen. It looks great and really tidy.

You can still get a grant for up to £350 for a wall charger at home from GOV. UK

Your dealer can check Vista and give you the estimated delivery date or even better a screen shot of it.
