I'm compound out which means left the docks?
In / out / in / out / shake it all about - you do the okey kokey and you turn around, and you still have no flippin’ idea where your car is!

Compound Out could mean that Elvis has left the building - but I would expect Vista to say “Shipped” if that was the case.

While researching this very point I found that a vehicle can go in and out of compound status at many points - but the key data is the address that goes with it. So I would expect us to go Compound In when they get to Antwerp, and then out again.

... in all honesty is best guesses - and that’s not much help really is it? Soz!

It’s a new status we have discovered on the Dealership system called Vista. It’s a way of knowing the status of the vehicle after it’s left the factory, and is used when the car is likely in a holding compound at a dockyard or similar.

My dealer said that they don’t order it via Vista for the MME? They order direct or another way?

Thanks, shame we don’t have access to view only on that.
It's where they go to look at online orders and looks like it's the dealer version of the online ordering system we have all used except with more data listed.

Your dealer will still have Vista. All mache's ordered will be on it.

Morning All

Story time, so please bear with me. I thought it was about time I shared some information with you all.

On 27/01/21 in response to a question I received this information
The next boat now scheduled to leave is the 12th of feb and then another 27th feb. we won’t know what vehicles are on the boat until it leaves but this has created the push back of ETA. The boat due to leave this week was removed from the schedule.

These dates corresponded to Grimaldi’s schedule for the Grande Houston and MSC Immacolata which is when I started stalking the GH. Originally she was supposed to go to Southampton AFTER Antwerp.

GH’s schedule was changed and this response I received in confirmation.

04/02/21
With regards to shipping still no updates other than a ship is leaving now on 18th and another on 26th Feb. Vehicles are on route to the ship for the UK but until they are boarded we won’t know VIN’s. From ship leaving to delivery is estimated 8 weeks so if your car is on the 18th departure that would give you end of April delivery.

08/02/21
No new news. I know there are a number of vehicles on route to the port. I just can’t wait till the 18th when they should be able to give us the VIN numbers.

18/02/21
I’ve just come off a meeting call where we were advised that all is looking good for shipping tomorrow!

Obviously because of GH being snowbound in Houston, she was delayed.

18/02/21
My question
I am putting my faith in the fact that I believe Grimaldi does Ford’s shipping, their schedule said that the Grande Houston was first of all due to leave Veracruz on 12th, which you initially gave me as the date a ship was leaving and then when you revised your leaving date it corresponded with the Grande Houston’s revised schedule on Grimaldi’s web site.

18/02/21
Answer
You are right and that is the correct ship.

22/02/21

Know that we have a plan in place to let the dealers know which cars are on the ship so they can contact all the customers and let them know the good news.

22/02/21
This was the result of my enquiry about my car to Grimaldi

We still have no record of this vin in our system. This means there is no booking at all for this unit to/from any port that our vessels call into.

As @Wonky_Donkey pointed out, when loading cars there is someone with a scanner standing on the loading ramp with a scanner booking the cars onboard. Once the ramp raises he/she then pushes a button and sends the info to a computer. Now in this day and age of fast communication and data transfer, it would be feasible to assume that at least within an hour of “sending” all relevant parties would have access to the information. This, I assume, is why I was told quite categorically that MY car was not on board. Also, if as was mentioned above, there was a plan in place to notify dealers of any progress then I would assume that by now if there was any information to be sent it would have been and we would ALL know the situation of our cars. As far as I am aware no-one has.

On Monday the information I received from Grimaldi about my car was passed onto to Ford and I am still waiting for a response. This leads me to believe that there isn’t any good news and that my car, at least, is still in Mexico. Why? I have no idea.

Now please don’t get me wrong. I am not putting any blame onto Rebecca. In my mind she has done a stirling job given the difficult circumstances. If I asked a question and she didn’t know the answer she would find out. Here lies the problem. She can only pass on what she is told. I believe that she is a small cog in the giant wheel that is Ford and if the higher ups don’t want to pass on any information then they won’t tell her the answers. This just makes everyone upset and where the speculation theories, yes I’m guilty, start.

This car is supposed to be the lifeline of Ford. The whole experience has been a complete shambles. With all the new factory built Fords I have had over the years this is by far and away the worst I have had. You can’t even blame it on the fact that the MME is a brand new car. I ordered a StreetKa and Focus CC3 before they were actually in production and didn’t have as much of a problem with them.

All we can do is "watch this space" no matter how frustrating it is.

I think the frustration is palpable, the fact that the cars are built and just sitting there with no clear explanation for the delays...

Both you and Tony have put so much energy and time into this, and it means we are all a lot more clued up about the whole process, well as much as we can be with the limited information Ford have given out.

If it wasn't for your efforts which has kept us more in the loop than Ford ever have I'm sure number of us would have walked away a while ago! So thank you both, it is much appreciated. Even if it sometimes feels like we take a step back with every two steps forward, we are still getting that little bit closer to getting our cars each day!

I just spoke to my dealer re vista, what status is currently showing etc (still showing 12th Feb in compound for what it’s worth so not showing as on the ship). He sent me this. Last paragraph really concerns me......

“Its not uncommon at the moment for the vista screen not being updated due to there being less personnel in offices , as an example I have a Fiesta that arrived yesterday here at the garage that the vista screen still has not updated from the 5th of Feb and the car being at degenham railhead !!!.

...... having said all of the above and just as I am typing this , there is a note coming through that a large numbers of cars that have been held for further quality checks , but at this time I don’t have exact details”

Given the issues with 12v batteries, the noisy panoramic roof lip, and interior screen buzz I would have no objection to waiting a couple of extra weeks for them to be sorted before I get the car. I’d love to be told that was happening though and I think Ford could easily spin that as a positive of buying from them vs a Tesla which sometimes appears to get delivered in partially assembled kit format ;)
