Yes one team at one location is cheaper and more efficient. Plus by then there may be more issues that may have come to light by then.
yes I agree - they can't move them back in to the factory as that is full with new cars being made.

Then you must consider the issue of time. The transport time gives them a window to procure, plan and set up the inspections AND it's a cost not at a dealer price.

We will probably never know what work is involved but a team of people doing one job, in one place if they are organised, is much cheaper and quicker than a dealer network; most of whom have not yet completed their basic high voltage training let alone a detailed repair.

I looks like I've finally got the VIN for my AWD ER order... Annoyingly, the First Edition order I've managed to place is telling me August for delivery and no VIN, which is confusing, since that would imply that is a new build as opposed to a cancelled order!

My dealer also told me that my original order was built on the 26th Feb... not 8th Feb as initially estimated, which is inline with the 2-3 week delay we've seen.

Perhaps this means all ER AWD configurations were built around this time, and as such would have missed the ship @portlandg is stalking... and it possibly means all FEs and AWD ERs are expected in August? Who knows... dealers guess was as good as mine. Either way, I have to speak to my them about hiring a loaner car for a few months, since either way it's looking highly unlikely there will be any car here for me before end of May.

Ok - so feel free to tell me to shush here, but here's my 2p worth....

I know this is a discussion forum, and the whole concept is that this is a place we can discuss anything and everything Mach-E related.... but in regards to the limited issues with some of the early production models I am starting to feel that we are deviating away from fact and heading off into wild theory territory.

Some of the issues getting discussed are getting inflated way beyond the scope of the actual issue. It's like someone starting off reporting that Mrs Miggins down the road went to the Dr about her ingrown toenail ends up becoming a story about Mrs Miggins had to have he leg chopped off. When you go back and check in with Mrs Miggins - she's just fine - and still has all her limbs attached! :)

As an example the issue with the dead 12v battery causing the car to go into deep sleep mode and requiring a jump start. Facts are: It only affected a very small number of users who were in environments where the temperature was as low as -25ºC, and there appeared to be an issue with the automatic top up of the 12v battery from the HV battery. A logic issue has been identified with the software that performed this function, and this has been potentially fixed with a software patch that can be applied by the dealer. No mass replacement of batteries required.

What I'm trying to say is let's not get too carried away with the theories about what remedial works (if any) may or may not be planned for our cars. There is a Wiki on the forum for the current issues and software update advisories issued by Ford here.

Let's try and keep it based on facts and reduce the wild conjecture eh folks?

100% agree.

That said, if Ford was giving more interest to their clients and communicate with them, we wouldn't have to start trying to find answers...

Well unfortunately that is one fact that is 100% true - Ford's communication is non-existent ? ? ?

The only solid facts I got were:-

They haven't told my dealer what the issue is.

He's been told It's a Quality Check and he says that's usual for a new car. This always happens.

They haven't been told which VINs are affected.

Still on target for the mid May delivery date he initially told me.

The largest delay is the first editions which he believes haven't been built yet.

I have some great news(for me) some potential good news for you and some bad news.

The great news is that my contact at Grimaldi has come through and confirmed that my car is on the MSC IMMACOLATA.
The good news is that if mine is onboard then there is every likelyhood that those that were also in Veracruz should be onboard
The bad news. I couldn't get them to divulge to shipment number. Sorry.

According to our system this unit was loaded in Veracruz for Destination Antwerp.

This is indeed great news! Happy for you... and probably for some (hopefully most) of us ?

I guess that if Ford/Dealer wants to communicate info to us, they have everything needed. So let's see if Ford is sticking to its non-communication style or not ?

Great news for you!?

Have been googling the ship for a wee while. Apparently if it was British it’s name would translate as the Immaculate Conception!

Hopefully that means when you get your car it shouldn’t have been screwed around with....? Sorry...I’ll get my coat! ?

I have now spoken to my dealer and he says it left on a ship on 22/02. I said we know the ship!

He also had a call from Ford today when they said some deliveries might be in April instead of the May date.

He is getting a demo version at the same time - I asked if it would be available for purchase as I know potential buyers but sadly Ford wont allow him.

I suggest get ringing your dealers.

yeah! happy days!

The dealer also looked for the shipment id number which he said used to appear on their system but that data is no longer available. He was astounded by the amount of info we have and our VIN checker facility plus the Wonky Vin finder from the order page.

I said I thought there was a battery issue causing the QC potential delay (and I still hold that view that they will not risk dodgy batteries in this launch as a cold UK winter battery breakdowns all over the place is too much of a risk to allow to happen) - he didn't know as ford just say QC checks.

He also stated the QC happens with all new launches e.g. the puma ST when it's the first shipment and then after a while when they are happy things are going ok they stop doing the post factory QC checks.

I doubt they will be so relaxed with this one though and will maintain those QC checks to ensure Tesla will always be the one with the QC issues.

My NORWEGIAN Dealer also confirm Relaease gate = Ship date 15.02.21 and Vercruse 19.2.21 - but can not see if mine is loaded... (They don't see skip info) - probably my MME is at Grande Houston
