I have just placed an EV6 reservation, Ford need to sort themselves out and drop the price so we don't have the extra £3k to pay or they will have a lot of hard to sell cars on their hands.
I doubt very much if THAT will happen

The silence is deafening!

I placed my order on 18/01/2021, received a cancelled order (built on 28/11/2020) which, I believe, is sat in Antwerp. My order was added to the Government Portal in Feb 2021 (thanks to my dealer).

I'm wondering what my chances are of getting the PICG and a car with no faults?

Getting a bit nervous now.
We're in the portal like you say so we're ok. But as you can see if there's a problem with that picg claim ford won't get involved.

Re the ongoing faults -
what's the after purchase care going to be like? If this is how they treat their buyers so far! It is a concern when we're paying near £50k.

Yeah I've done the same - just as back-up! Would still dearly the like the Mach E if Ford can get their act together!

I think it's clear that recent orders made in the 28 days before the PICG change, if logged properly, will be fine. But I just find it hard to comprehend that older orders, many made by customers more than a year before will have to pay a £3k premium. My guess is that Ford is lobbying government for the cash to pay PICG for all orders made prior to 18 March, and if they fail to secure that, then Ford will have to take the hit, rather than us.

I'm sure many will disagree, but that's my hunch on what will happen - we'll see!

I've seen various Ford responses posted and I know it's a big figure for Ford to deal with, but I simply cannot fathom how Ford would expect customers who placed orders when eligible for the grant to now suck it up since it is only an issue due to their delays. Maybe naive but Ford will have to honour and then fight their fight behind the scenes with the gov to minimise the damage.

To be fair the EV6 looks phenomenal. Can see a few cancellations coming up.

I am sure the bean counters are hard at work working out the best strategy (for Ford of course). Will it be to take the hit and honour the price for all those who (if Ford had got their act together and registered the cars on the portal in Dec when we confirmed our orders) and have to spend £3000 on a few cars or lose the sale of (most) of those cars altogether. It will be interesting to see what transpires. If I believe VISTA date they have about 6 - 8 weeks to figure it out before my car gets delivered.

I’m due Mid May but I need a definitive answer well before the car gets delivered as I’m not installing a charger until I know I’m definitely getting the car.

Maybe Ford will throw in a second pair of earphones for the inconvenience...?. They’ve probably got a few sets going spare with the cancellations anyway!

Unfortunately I have already spent money anticipating the arrival of this car. Had my garage enlarged so my MME would fit and installed a commando socket to use the variopower charger it comes with. Not a complete disaster though. I can now get my current car in the garage (couldn't before) and if I did cancel and get a different BEV I can still utilize the commando socket

I've just paid a £100 refundable deposit to reserve the EV6, again gone for the RWD at about 40k comparable to the MME. But hopefully with better communication and customer service!

Let's see if Ford pull their act together by May. Otherwise I will wait til October for the EV6

I thought I'd stay off the EV6 debate as we're on a MME forum but I must admit I have a reservation just to keep the clock ticking. The time difference is 6 months + and probably 8 months.

Both are great cars.
