This charging story is why I'm seriously considering backing out of the Mach-E (now due in June) for a Kia EV6. The big key factor for this being that I'm not in a dire need to change my car right now, so I can potentially wait until next year if necessary.
Both have fairly similar ranges (the Mach-E fractionally longer but not by a huge amount) but the charging speed of the EV6 is potentially many times faster.
Who knows what the reality of charging either car will be, but with Ecotricity teaming up with Gridserve, it's highly likely that the current motorway charging fiasco will soon be coming to an end with higher voltage chargers that actually work!
The EV6 will be able to take advantage of the much higher charging speeds whilst the Mach-E won't.
Now, yes - I get it that for most of the time you simply won't need anything other than home charging - but for those times when you do, the ability to use 800V charging has the potential to save a lot of time!
