MME RR ER RWD ?

Doing the charger research now and it's doing my head in.
The Wallbbox is at the top of the list now but I was interested about the Ford one.
What made you decided on the Ford charger?
What price did they quote you? Did that included supply and fit?
Did British Gas do a site visit before quote?

Enjoy your test drive, done mine, it's great.
Hi @robert007ssmuel

I have an existing charger for my PHEV but it's only 3.4kw. I ticked the box to request a quote for the Ford Connected Wallbox when I placed my order but that was not then available (January) so I pencilled in the Evbox Elvi wallbox as the alternate, which seemed OK.

I have kept in touch with Ford on their charger, as this was my preference - primarily because it (in theory at least) integrates with the FordPass App and the car etc., and if there's any problems with charging at home then there's only one company to deal with !!

So to be honest, I didn't do a lot of further research.

I think the all-in cost is £700, assuming you qualify for the OLEV grant (£350 I think). This is about £100 cheaper than the Elvi. The quote will vary depending on the distance of the charger (thus the cable) from your consumer unit and whether any additional electrical work needs to be undertaken - in my case, a load safety device (~£80) was also required.

My experience with the British Gas EV team was great. They undertook a virtual survey (via my smartphone) and dealt with UK Power on my behalf, and checked/prepared the grant application. Really helpful and easy to contact!

If their fitters are as good, then I would expect a really good installation (once they get the charger from Ford!).

Hope this helps - please let me know if any other questions and I'll do my best!
Glad your drive went well - do you have an ETA for your MME?

Thanks David will be interesting what you decide to install and cost. At the moment my plan is just to granny charge on the 3 pin as I will not belive its here until it is actually sitting on the drive ? . Looks like wallbox wait times are around 4 weeks and I am not decided between that option or commando socket which is the route a couple have also gone down on here as you can use the Ford supplied variopower charger. If I understand correctly it will give you about the same charge per hour as the wallbox,so few options to consider ?
Hi @Hotspur28

Yes, I understand what you mean .... not sure I'll believe it either till the car is here ?

Thanks for the info on the other options - it looks like it'll be a close run thing between the car and the charger as to which arrives first, so I may well need a plan B ?

Cheers,
David

I'm just waiting for the update "vmacsStatusDesc":"shakeitallabout ",

The car's not moved since the Ford App connection and going from 18 to 19 miles but I'll keep an eye out.

Mine too for the vmacs fields, although my gobstatuscode and gobstatusdesc have never changed from "PROD" and "produced" respectively.

I expect the suspension update for Europe will just be camber adjustment as our roads have different camber.
I had this issue with my Alfa Romeo 4C. The car violently pulled to the left due to the camber. I had to have the front geometrics adjusted - completely transformed the drive.

It will be a simple adjustment once they get the feel of it. Not sure it will affect the bumpy ride though.

Thank you Steinar

I have found the line and it has error 404 in it! Which I think is no data on the database for it.

{"result":null,"error":{"errorCode":"404","messages":null,"dataErrors":[{"code":"100257","name":"Vin","value":"WF0etc","message":"No Record found"}],"attributes":{}}}

20/21mph for 240v 32a commando socket compared to 28mph for a wall box (ish). £32 from Amazon plus electrician costs instead of £650. No brainer for me but then my electrician was already installing electrics in my extended garage. Might not work out as cheap if you have new wiring. Worth an ask though.

It's a good idea, only downside is losing smart integration with the wall charger and electric company. I don't think the car itself will integrate direct with Octopus for its 4 hours a day at 5p/kwh?

I think you should be able to set charge times via the Ford pass app if all was working. But looks like there are a few issues with that at the moment even for some just trying to open it ? There is also the option of the deal octopus are doing with the ohme smart cable at £199 for customers.

It doesn't have to. You can set the car to charge between 0030 to 0430 to charge during Octopus Go EV rate. I'm with them and that's what I intend to do.
