- MME RR ER RWD ?
Hi @robert007ssmuelDoing the charger research now and it's doing my head in.
The Wallbbox is at the top of the list now but I was interested about the Ford one.
What made you decided on the Ford charger?
What price did they quote you? Did that included supply and fit?
Did British Gas do a site visit before quote?
Enjoy your test drive, done mine, it's great.
I have an existing charger for my PHEV but it's only 3.4kw. I ticked the box to request a quote for the Ford Connected Wallbox when I placed my order but that was not then available (January) so I pencilled in the Evbox Elvi wallbox as the alternate, which seemed OK.
I have kept in touch with Ford on their charger, as this was my preference - primarily because it (in theory at least) integrates with the FordPass App and the car etc., and if there's any problems with charging at home then there's only one company to deal with !!
So to be honest, I didn't do a lot of further research.
I think the all-in cost is £700, assuming you qualify for the OLEV grant (£350 I think). This is about £100 cheaper than the Elvi. The quote will vary depending on the distance of the charger (thus the cable) from your consumer unit and whether any additional electrical work needs to be undertaken - in my case, a load safety device (~£80) was also required.
My experience with the British Gas EV team was great. They undertook a virtual survey (via my smartphone) and dealt with UK Power on my behalf, and checked/prepared the grant application. Really helpful and easy to contact!
If their fitters are as good, then I would expect a really good installation (once they get the charger from Ford!).
Hope this helps - please let me know if any other questions and I'll do my best!
Glad your drive went well - do you have an ETA for your MME?
David
