So where on earth to start?

Firstly our experience of the event. We went in and were taken straight to the test drive car, this was a shame as it would have been good to see the car and ask the "expert" questions first, however, having watched so many videos I felt good to go.

We test drove the red, but also saw the grey, which was a very smart colour. It was a shame that although they had 3 vehicles, they only had 2 colours. The colour swatches were matt and we felt they were not a good colour indicator at all.

I currently drive the Hyundai Ioniq electric, so I am used to an electric car and have been able to make some comparisons.

The test drive.

We tested the SR RWD which was great for us as that is what we are buying. It is lovely and spacious and the red is a beautiful colour, but I am veering towards the space white still. Obviously the SR RWD is the basic model and it didn't feel basic at all. Yes, it is missing little things like electric adjustable seating but once my seat is in place, that won't matter at all, especially as my husband and I have very similar seating settings.

We heard no buzzing or squeaks from anywhere, they may have been there, but honestly if they were, our breathing was more audible than any noises!
There are a lot of Ford markings, including on all the windows and the key. They didn't bother us, and I won't be getting my key out of my bag, so I won't really see it, but I wonder why they didn't put a Mustang logo on that.

We drove on several uneven roads with potholes etc. Firstly the handling of the car made it incredibly easy to avoid the potholes even as a last minute decision. Yes, you could definitely feel the road on uneven surfaces, but I think part of that was made more noticeable as the car is so quiet so you feel and hear the vibrations more than in other cars. I have certainly been quite conscious of this in my current car since reading about feeling the road, so may just be something I have got used to. We went over plenty of speed bumps, some regular, some narrow metal ones and some split ones. I think as long as you drive sensibly they don't feel any different to any other car. The more I drove, the more I realised that the one pedal driving felt extremely similar to the regen driving on my current car; I currently drive on regen level 3, the highest level, and it pretty much comes to a stop when I take my foot off the pedal after a little while (sometimes a metre or so if I'm driving at extremely slow speeds, but more often 10/15/20 metres), it basically coasts until it stops, which is what I felt the one pedal drive did. I expected it to stop as you come off the pedal, it definitely doesn't do this unless you are almost at a stop anyway. I will use it as a regen feature but will still very much need the brake to actually stop the car most of the time.

We also drove on the motorway. What a lovely, powerful car! It was so smooth and the acceleration was a thing of beauty, wow the higher spec models must feel incredible!

I found that around 45mph was the sweet spot where you stop feeling the vibrations and being so aware of all the unevenness on the roads. Most of my journeys are driven at under 40mph but this doesn't bother me.

The car has such a lot of passenger space. I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old. They couldn't believe how much room they had. The 8 year old is still in a car seat, and even with that the leg room is amazing.

The bonnet is long. I felt that and the rear lights are the biggest nods to an original Mustang. I actually liked that from my driving position, I could see a lot of bonnet.

He also said that the cars were about to be collected, yet when we went out one car was in a test drive and the other car was just about to be taken on one, so clearly they had at least an hour.

Back at the test drive car.

We revisited the test drive car when it came back again and checked whether there was ambient lighting available, we had a proper look on the screen and compared it to the screen on the car in the dealership. Final outcome, the RWD SR does NOT have ambient lighting. If this is the worst thing, then I'm fine with that.

The guy who was cleaning and sanitising the cars showed me (several times) how to close the frunk. I failed each time. He made it look simple. My husband managed it about 75% of the time. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I can't do it. Video included of how to close the frunk.

Side note: I finally met our lovely dealer, who has been so patient with me on the phone. My red car due 8th May is now showing as 15th May (and I'm expecting it to slip further). He can see it is still in Antwerp...this is now what I was told yesterday by Hannah (who also refused to give me any dates and played stupid when I said that dates have slipped for a lot of people and then avoided my questions). My white car has slipped at the moment from May 29th to June 5th, but again I won't hold put hope for that date. Hannah told me yesterday I have to cancel my order before it gets to the UK if I want to get my deposit back. This is hard to do when nobody is giving me any real idea of dates as she has avoided every question. I'm on a BBR Campaign (bring back Rebecca).

Great write up. Re cancelling car you can cancel right up to taking your car for a test drive. Long distance selling regulations apply. so would really push back on that with Hannah. My dealer has confirmed this is this case also. ??

Awesome review and good pics. Glad you had a good drive. In my opinion it is not worth asking the 'experts' as they don't seem to know the correct answers, which is not only a shame but very unprofessional. 2 weeks to go until I get to drive one. ??

1st question would be : Why would you want to do that.
Also, I thought you were having this as a company car. If you worked for me and defaced/ wilfully damaged company property you wouldn't be working for me for much longer.

I'm not bothered about the Mustang decals, it's an EV so I don't think they add anything as most people accept it's not a Mustang, rather the sales ploy to make it more attractive. As far as work and removing them, they don't have an issue as long as it does not damage the car.

It literally is a Mustang according to the people who actually built it. Not sure how much of a sales ploy it’s been.... Taking the decals off it won’t help with that denial. ?

After having been lucky enough to have two test drives I would have to disagree with the one pedal driving report.

I found it to be very responsive, to the point, it took a while to get used to it. Very harsh at first. It stopped virtually as soon as I took my foot off the pedal but, once I got used to it, I loved it and it is definitely the future.

On my second test drive, I did not use the brakes once in 40 minutes. Indeed, the car complimented me for having not used the brakes for 99% of my drive.

The narrow metal ones certainly feel "sharp", however this is what they are meant to do. The regular ones, when driven over at a sensible speed felt smooth, and the split ones were fine when driving over, but the car wheelbase was wide enough to straddle the hump should you wish to, which meant you basically avoid the bump.

I found the one pedal driving to be a bit disappointing. Yes, it slows the car down to a stop, but you absolutely need to use the break when turning suddenly, slowing for pedestrians and other general driving. The more I drove, the more I realised that the one pedal driving felt extremely similar to the regen driving on my current car; I currently drive on regen level 3, the highest level, and it pretty much comes to a stop when I take my foot off the pedal after a little while (sometimes a metre or so if I'm driving at extremely slow speeds, but more often 10/15/20 metres), it basically coasts until it stops, which is what I felt the one pedal drive did. I expected it to stop as you come off the pedal, it definitely doesn't do this unless you are almost at a stop anyway. I will use it as a regen feature but will still very much need the brake to actually stop the car most of the time.

We also drove on the motorway. What a lovely, powerful car! It was so smooth and the acceleration was a thing of beauty, wow the higher spec models must feel incredible!

I found that around 45mph was the sweet spot where you stop feeling the vibrations and being so aware of all the unevenness on the roads. Most of my journeys are driven at under 40mph but this doesn't bother me.

The car has such a lot of passenger space. I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old. They couldn't believe how much room they had. The 8 year old is still in a car seat, and even with that the leg room is amazing.

The bonnet is long. I felt that and the rear lights are the biggest nods to an original Mustang. I actually liked that from my driving position, I could see a lot of bonnet.

This felt rushed and as lovely as the rep was, he couldn't answer all of our questions. I asked if the SR RWD has ambient lighting (as per the conversation on here the other day), and he told me he thought it did. I relayed the conversation on the forum and he said wasn't sure.

He was unable to show me how to close the frunk as he had taken the latches off the frunk to make it easier to open and closed.

He also said that the cars were about to be collected, yet when we went out one car was in a test drive and the other car was just about to be taken on one, so clearly they had at least an hour.

We revisited the test drive car when it came back again and checked whether there was ambient lighting available, we had a proper look on the screen and compared it to the screen on the car in the dealership. Final outcome, the RWD SR does NOT have ambient lighting. If this is the worst thing, then I'm fine with that.

The guy who was cleaning and sanitising the cars showed me (several times) how to close the frunk. I failed each time. He made it look simple. My husband managed it about 75% of the time. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I can't do it. Video included of how to close the frunk.

Side note: I finally met our lovely dealer, who has been so patient with me on the phone. My red car due 8th May is now showing as 15th May (and I'm expecting it to slip further). He can see it is still in Antwerp...this is now what I was told yesterday by Hannah (who also refused to give me any dates and played stupid when I said that dates have slipped for a lot of people and then avoided my questions). My white car has slipped at the moment from May 29th to June 5th, but again I won't hold put hope for that date. Hannah told me yesterday I have to cancel my order before it gets to the UK if I want to get my deposit back. This is hard to do when nobody is giving me any real idea of dates as she has avoided every question. I'm on a BBR Campaign (bring back Rebecca).

I hope I have covered a lot of useful ground here, please feel free to ask questions. For those of you who haven't yet had a drive, you won't be disappointed.

My thinking is that until I am told timescales for both cars then I can't say which one I need to cancel. Originally, I hoped to see the car today, make a decision, in my mind I already knew the dates so I could make an informed decision and cancel one today. The fact that dates aren't forthcoming and my questions are swerved or completely ignored by Hannah means I was unable to do that today.

I can advise that I am not a lawyer and that I have a certain set of skills.

One is distance selling knowledge.

You can cancel and not lose your money.

Especially as you have all used credit cards.

Lookup Hannah's profile on linkedin. This isn't someone with a lot of experience.

Based on all the delays and the extremely no existant delivery and date changes your money is yours. Test drives don't come into it.

After having been lucky enough to have two test drives I would have to disagree with the one pedal driving report.

I found it to be very responsive, to the point, it took a while to get used to it. Very harsh at first. It stopped virtually as soon as I took my foot off the pedal but, once I got used to it, I loved it and it is definitely the future.

On my second test drive, I did not use the brakes once in 40 minutes. Indeed, the car complimented me for having not used the brakes for 99% of my drive.

Maybe Laureen wasn't in whisper mode? Opd was fine for me and in that mode.

I should have said, I was in whisper mode. The breaking just wasn't harsh enough for me. Seems I'm in the minority though. My husband felt exactly the same as me, in fact he was the one who likened it to the regen on our current car.

You'll love both! Game changing and I guarantee you won't ever go back to a manual or an ICE car .
The last car I owned that was a manual was a 2000 Subaru WRX, a total POS. Glad to see the back of it in 2002. Since then autos all the way- once bitten and all that!
