All fair points and well reasoned. Am I sure the Kia dealer will be any better? Hard to say. Based on early experiences then far better than my chosen Ford dealer in that they have replied to my contact requests 3 times out of 3 so far. Ford is 2 times out of 9 (excluding the concierge).

Range is an interesting point. My experience with the i3 is that for 7 to 8 months of the year the range is affected by temperatures being less than optimal. The EV6 heat pump will help a lot so I reckon I may well get a very similar range to the Mach e in real world conditions, and judging by the range achieved by our friends in the USA. But as I charge at home every night, not really an important consideration for 50 weeks a year. The other 2 will leave me at the mercy of the charging network!

Seat Adjustment is tilt - not a biggie, but I like support under my legs.

I agree with you that the 18" alloys on the ER RWD look good - especially in the flesh.

I am sure I would be very very happy with either car, it really does come down to the complete lack of response from the Ford dealerships (I have been dealing with two of them here in London) and so far the very good response from Kia. If either dealer had taken 5 minutes to respond and answer my queries then I would still be all-in for the Mach e. Even when I went to test drive the guy responsible for my order could not be bothered to come and say hello but sent out someone else to deal with me.

I think for all of you who have had the resilience and determination to hang on in there, you will get fabulous cars that will put a smile on your face each time you jump in it. It is a fabulous car. But I have no emotional connection to either this or the Kia. I still have one for my ageing Alfa, a car that puts a smile on my face every day, but which soon will be obsolete thanks to our Mayor!!
A very reasonable reply. It’s worth double checking the heat pump benefits. Anecdotally I believe it only makes a worthwhile difference in specific, more extreme circumstances. Of course I could have heard that from Mach E buyers who have a vested interest in not believing in heat pumps ;)

That's a proper take down of the Kia! I had a little chuckle. Especially "looks terrible from any angle that includes the rear".

With the vehicle to load, I would never buy a battery as an alternative! The cost makes it pointless and more worth buying the kia! Then rag the battery knowing it is covered by warranty.

I'm sticking with my mache. I love reading opinions of the mache and other options.

My EV adventure started in 2016. A mate bought a 24KW Leaf and was full of it! At the time I had a '02 Lexus IS300 Sportcross (yes, a 3l 2JZ GE engined Lexus in case that means anything, a supra GT engine and running gear lurking in a classic IS200 body with a hatchback) An awesome very fast and smooth car. So one day after we'd been shooting and adjourned to the pub (as you do) he invited me to have a go of his leaf.

Reluctantly I did

10 days later my Leaf was delivered to me and the IS300 was taken away!

My point is that all these BEV's are very good and intriguing. You make your choice of which model and hope it works out!

I've looked at the EV6 and Ioniq 5 and they leave me impressed but cold. Many weeks ago I was following a Polestar 2. Very smart but not for me (have to have hatchback which rules out a T3) The Ipace is lovely but too pricey.

The only one that ticks our boxes is the Mach E

But don't we all think that's also a bit emotional? There's soul and history involved...

Great! Bring it on!

I'm just a little concerned why my 'GobStatusDate' is still showing as 25/01/21. Anyone have any ideas?

I wouldn't worry too much about that - up until very recently my "Gob" prefixed status codes were all based on early December 2020 dates (when my Mach-E was manufactured), the most important ones are the "Vmacs" prefixed ones that show the current info of the respective Compound In/Out dates.

The Grande New Jersey has now arrived, last night, in Veracruz. Hopefully some of our cars are on that to start their journey to Antwerp! Fingers crossed.

It's very interesting to read others opinions over the last couple of pages re: Mach e/dealers vs competition.

As I believe I've said before, my last new Ford was a Focus in 2002, it was in and out of the dealer 15 times in the first year due to a recurring fault, and both my dealer, and Ford UK were not very helpful. So I vowed, never again would I have a new Ford! Instead I went to Toyota, and our local Toyota dealer is brilliant in every way, I'd always give 5 stars for service! The only problems with Toyota are, I wanted to get an EV, and they are late to the EV party, only announcing one very recently, also their infotainment systems suck!

So along came the Mach E, which for me has ticked all the boxes, even the base RWD SR I've gone for has everything I need except the power folding mirrors (which I think the jury is still out whether they are included or not, I'm eagerly awaiting the first UK delivery of an up-to-date RWD SR to find out if their mirrors power fold or not!!!). So I have taken the bull by the horns, and ordered my Mach E. But like all of you, I am already very disappointed with the overall way Ford UK has handled the whole process of getting us our cars, and I'm back to dealing with a dealer who often doesn't reply to emails, and doesn't keep his promises! (ie he promised to check Vista every couple of days but I virtually always have to chase him for an update!) Trying to get his revaluation of my p/ex CHR is like getting blood out of a stone!

But because it's such a great car, I'm taking a chance, and going ahead with my purchase (as long as I get a decent p/ex valuation). I just dread having problems with my Mach E because I don't have faith in either my dealer or Ford UK to resolve them satisfactorily. My hope is that the work done in Antwerp will give us cars in tip top condition!!! Fingers crossed.

After the 3 years finance is paid off, unless Ford have managed to impress me, and depending on what Toyota's EV range is like by then, I will probably go back to Toyota.

Does anyone happen to know when the Grande New Jersey is due to leave Veracruz? I know she is due into Antwerp 10th June, at the moment at least.
