OK, final day. Left Norfolk and headed to Milton Keynes to see wife's cousin. Good time to visit the charging hub at the Milton Keynes Coachway just off J14 M1. Thought I would give the Ionity charger a go. Just as well as ALL the BP Pulse chargers were full with a local taxi firms cars, some not even plugged in. Anyway there was only 1 Ionity available so plugged in. It didn't sound right from the start. No buzzing whereas the ones either side were. Charge was quite slow so when one of the others were free moved onto that one. Made the correct noises and charging quicker. Avoid number 3 if you can. Almost 38 Kw in total for £11.58. (30p/kw). Got me to 76%. Enough to get me home. Arrived at home with17% left. Total mileage for the whole weekend was 780 miles at a usage of 4.1 miles/kw. Overall very pleased with the performance of the car. Very comfortable driving, even the wife said she preferred it to the Kuga. RESULT. Total spend at public charging for the weekend was £48.84 which is roughly .06p/mile. In my Kuga that would work out to .16p/mile. Happy days. Looking forward to the next one.
Is there any way to report these people hogging the chargers even when not charging? I had scoped that place as the ideal junction to recharge at when in that area. To hear that that it's being blocked by time wasters is disheartening!

Anyone who now has their MME, and ordered extras such as mud flaps/car mats/boot liner etc as part of the online ordering process, did these items automatically come either to you or the dealer, or did the dealer have to place an order themselves? My dealer doesn't know whether these items will come with the car, or they have to order them!
Hi @Smuddell

In my case, although ordered at the point of placing the order, the dealer had to "actually" place the order (mud flaps, mats and boot liner) when the car arrived and everything was finalised.

Front mats arrived in time for pick-up of the car (just over a week ago) and waiting on the rest ....... apparently out-of-stock which I don't really buy as there are still only a relatively small number of MMEs in the UK and they have had the order information for months --- more likely Ford just forgot ?

Cheers

I took out for £560 the extra 2 years warranty called "classic" and you have to do this on or before the day you pay for the car.

I wouldn't roll the dice with this car. The motors would cost thousands to replace if one goes.

If you have an AWD version there is even a more compelling reason for the warranty.
Hi @SteveUk

I don't recall seeing that additional warranty - or was that part of one of the "Electric Packs" or whatever they were called?

I only expect to keep the car for three years but would have probably considered the extra ?

Thanks
David

Well, day 3 of the road trip has been a day of mixed emotions. First of all my car and @Wonky_Donkey's car have been joined at the hip for quite a while. Thet rolled of the production line on the same day. They were parked up in Mexico for 3 months together and then came over to Antwerp on the same boat. They played chase me chase me in Antwerp and on to Flushing. Mine won and got to Dagenham first but @Wonky_Donkey ' wasn't far behind. There they went their separate ways. We both took delivery on the same day, so still difficult to part.
Today, after 5 weeks they were reunited again.
We had arranged to meet at a BP Pulse charging station in Dereham. I arrived with 36%. Both units were not working. Never mind. Not twitching yet, still got 116 miles left. Local knowledge came to the fore and we taken to a lovely pub on the Riverside where we had a good old catch up, lunch and a gossip. On the way back went to another BP Pulse charger, but although this (and the 2 this morning) said they were available it didn't work either. Now I was starting to twitch. I know where there are 9 Instavolt chargers was the cry from the local knowledge guru. 1 of those must be working. Success. Arrived with 23%, left with 75% adding about 180 miles. A bit more expensive at £18 but charged at last.
Total mileage so far 503. Usage 4.1. Still happy. Another very good day and good to finally meet @Wonky_Donkey.

Hi all,

Well the good news is that normal service appears to have resumed ??

I switched off OPD and drove up and down a small cul-de-sac nearby in forward and reverse with lots of braking (they must have wondered what was going on ?)

There was a fair amount of "clanking" and noise from the back and it probably took a couple of minutes or so before things quietened down, and then I did a "high speed" run with some hard braking.

I also flicked the electronic parking brake on and off half a dozen times when stationary.

So once again, thanks for your suggestions and help - at least we now have some first-hand experience of this potential problem ?

PS: I hadn't realised quite how loud the "pedestrian warning noise" was until driving up and down the cul-de-sac!

PPS: the "normal" brakes also felt good, and were not at all "grabby"!
Hi again,

Just following up briefly on the OPD/brake "binding" problems you all helped advise on - and resolve - last week.

I noticed on Friday when adjusting the tyre pressures, that there was some slight "marking" on the rear brake disks ?

I wouldn't go so far as to say they are badly "scored" but there a few concentric circles visible but not really much to the touch.

I am planning to advise my dealer (so it's formally on the record) and will ask him to look at these when my mud-flaps etc arrive and I go in to get them fitted.

Should I be overly concerned by this ?

Thanks for any thoughts,
David

Has anyone with their car seen an OTA update yet?
An OTA update went to all vehicles on 2nd June - I'm presuming it went out to all cars whether they had been handed over or not. So if you took delivery of your car after this date the OTA would have already been downloaded and applied.

Next one allegedly on 7th July (ish) which should include eCall fix for those that have not been fixed by the dealership network.

OTA's are very noticeable in the FordPass app - and the notification sticks for about 3 days. Here's a screen grab from the June update....

Just carried out the first charge on my car at the weekend on a 50kw charger with Chargeplace Scotland.

30 mins to go from 60% to 80% and it was free….maybe I’ll just not get the wall box installed at my house now!?

I heard someone walking past my car say ‘look at that Ferrari!’ ?. Guess they got their horses mixed up!

I suppose it’s better than ‘that’s not a Mustang’!?

10k + posts spread over 694 pages…Rather them than me ?
Do you REALLY think that they give a damn enough to go through them all. I doubt it. They are not going to say anything detrimental because it will jeopardise their future relationship with Ford.

Almost a week of ownership now, and done my first 100 miles - not as many as some on here, but getting more familiar with the vehicles.

What's going well
  • Range/efficiency - getting some very good numbers so far - 4.1m/kWh average since I got it - mix of town driving, motorways, some climate control. Mostly 'whisper' mode, but some 'untamed' moment!
  • Loving the drive - it was always going to be an improvement on my Outlander PHEV, but really enjoying the power, handling, and overall solid feel of the car.
  • Charging - I've used a mix of slow and rapid public chargers a couple of times, just topping up at convenient times. All worked 100% and v easy (these are all familiar charging spots for me, so no new cards/memberships required).
  • Lots of looks and attention! Stopped briefly and a guy from the local KwikFit had a good look, but complained it didn't look like a proper mustang!
  • The intelligent cruise control is a new thing for me, but enjoyed testing it out, and it was nice in slow traffic keeping the same distance from the car in front.

Issues/glitches
  • I've had my main screen go blank twice now (one while driving, and once at start up). The time when driving it reset itself straight away, but the second time at start up I did the manual reset which sorted it. Also one day it randomly decided to put my main screen colour choice back on auto, when I've had it set in dark mode
  • Apple CarPlay - this has worked mostly well, except yesterday morning the car stopped being able to pair with my phone - and several attempts to forget the phone, reconnect etc didn't work. A few hours later I tried again and the connection worked and all good now
  • Wind noise - I've heard a bit from the front of the roof area above 70 mph - not every time, but on one stretch of motorway driving it was noticeable (maybe wind direction?!)
  • Rear view camera delay - nice feature, but there's a glitch that keeps turning it off in settings
  • Windows - I've found a couple of times when closing both front windows at the same time from the driver's controls (so pulling the levers up) the front passenger window started going down! Not sure why that is....

Overall car is great, and am looking forward to some longer drives which I've got coming up. Definitely some glitches that will hopefully get sorted in future OTAs.

Absolutely, the main manufacturers have PR teams which wine and dine journalists.

They are as impartial as you'd expect!

Just checked my etis pti ecu's installed dates and most have changed to todays date so I assume the update is NOT just for the ecall system although it does say "last checked" and not updated. The last date was 2/6 when I had my first OTA update. It will be interesting to if anything changes when we get the next one.

I would just go and take the air out of their tyres, that would teach them a lession.
