KEYGATE - since I have a First Edition with red stitching on the seats the following from e-bay seemed a good solution:

drove to work the other morning and I know I am a bit of a softy. had the heated seat on, no heating, it was raining a bit so the windscreen wipers were on and i had the window mist function on, my kwh rate was very low.

then on the way home it was lovely and the road was very clear so I put my foot down, thinking that would make my miles/kwh low and when I looked I was at 5 ish

I have no idea how to drive this car efficiently, I drive it the way I want to because Its either fun or warm! but I would like to know the best way of getting the best miles per kwh out of it.

any hints?

Hi all,

Not wishing to cause alarm, but I noticed the following post relating to windshield and roof recalls in Canada.

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/roof-and-windshield-recall.9587/post-245196

Not sure whether it may affect UK cars or perhaps this was one of the quality control checks that were undertaken in Antwerp ?

Cheers
David
Nothing on Etis for my car. Post does say Ford will write to affected customers. Hopefully it will not affect UK cars.

Hi all,

Without giving away my age ? wasn't the old petrol advert "You can be sure of Shell" ?

In terms of Shell Recharge you absolutely cannot be sure of Shell .... at least in East Sussex and most of the South-East of England.

I wanted to try my nearest fast charger yesterday, near Uckfield, a 150kwh charger and arrived to find it completely dead (it didn't show as "out of order" on their app) and contacted their helpline to log the issue.

I phoned them this morning and they admitted it was still not working and had been like that for over a week.

I had a quick look on Zap Map and Shell Recharge have about 8 fast chargers (100+kwh) in the South-East:
  • Hop Oast, Horsham, West Sussex - Out of Service
  • Brighton/Hove - Out of Service
  • Maresfield, near Uckfield, East Sussex - Out of Service
  • Bluebell Hill, Rochester, Kent - Out of Service
  • Twickenham - Out of Service
  • Ashtead, Surrey - Out of Service
  • Epsom, Surrey - Out of Service
  • Sutton, Surrey - Out of Service
The out of service all have different dates, so not a single total network failure ..... just a total failure ?

Logged it all with a very helpful lady on the Allego helpline ?
Quick update on SHELL RECHARGE - not sure if this is helpful for everyone, so will keep it brief!

Of their 8 Fast-Chargers Out of Order last week in my part of the world, two are now Available (Horsham and Epsom) but the remaining 6 are still Out of Order covering their entire South-East area fast-charger network.

Plus a further one near Guildford is Out of Order.

Once again their Helpline was very good - but sadly Shell appear completely unable to maintain their Fast-charge Network - You cannot be sure of Shell

I have a trip planned for later where the only fast-charger in the region is Shell Recharge ...... ?

I tried using a couple on my last trip between London and Norwich just for fun, both were broken or errored out in some way. This is kinda reflected in their PlugShare ratings - I’ve yet to see a Shell unit score higher than 5/10. ? Hence I’ve set my PlugShare map filter to a minimum reliability score of 8 or higher. That weeds out the rubbish quite well.

In a weird way if this does end up being extended to UK vehicles It will make me a little happier.

If it means that if the roof needs to have the adhesive re-applying, the alignment might be a little more spot on than it was from the factory ?

And that’s not a complaint - I’m fine with how my roof is right now - but it is a little ‘on the huh’ as discussed back in May 2021. ?

Hi,

I know what you mean ?

I'm really happy with the car but my roof is slightly misaligned which I think gives rise to some wind noise on the driver's side of the roof.

If they could sort that out (without taking everything apart!!) that could be good ?

Yes, doesn't May seem such a long time ago now ?

Hi @Wonky_Donkey

That's really interesting - very similar to why I tried the Shell charger last week - just to make sure my Ford Charging card worked with Shell and to see a "real" fast-charger in operation ?

In theory Shell has a really good fast-charging network outside of the main motorway system, so it should be very useful.

I'll do likewise and filter out the un-reliable ones.

Many thanks ?

Just heard from Hannah. She say's that they are monitoring the situation regarding the windscreen and glass roof in conjunction with their partners in EUR and has said that as soon as they know anything concrete they will let us know.

Just a thought. Don't know what the weather is like in Canada at the moment but I know they do get some pretty cold temperatures so it could be that the silicone Ford used in the fixing of the screen and roof doesn't work in REALLY cold weather. Bit worrying for those in the US but I don't think we get THAT cold, do we?
