No idea re dash cam but good to see another MME user in Manchester. I'm based in South Manchester and I am now seeing several MMEs on the M60 over a week or two
Hi,
Also Manchester and fitted my own Transcend dash camera (front mount with front and back views). Works great, easy to fit, discrete and power from the diagnostic slot. Some photos attached to illustrate.

I don’t think so. If it was HVBJB I don’t believe the car would ever have started again.

Some of these module updates can take hours, so that’s why he wouldn’t do them all. Saying that, I don’t understand 2 things. He updated the OBCC which makes sense as you were trying to charge when the car crapped out. But it seems unsuccessfully as it is still showing as a software update. The GWM he ran initially and then quit, probably because he didn’t have a USB device handy to finish the job.

I’m still under the impression that a simple DTC clear would have enabled the car to start again based on the FDRS logs I can see.

It wouldn’t surprise me if all you get from the dealer is ā€œWe updated the software and now it’s goodā€. We can check if that’s true using FDRS (if they say they updated modules) but I’ll bet if the car is working now, you’re gonna get it back that way….which doesn’t really resolve the initial problem (unless they actually DO get the OBCC updated properly).

I’m no expert, but certainly have a ton of experience updating modules…..more so than some dealers!
Massive thanks for this it’s a great help and hopefully will mean they won’t fob me off on Monday telling me things have been updated if they haven’t!
I will keep you up to date, it’s knocked my confidence in the car at the moment as quite wary of going far and having to rely on fast chargers. Interestingly the night before this happened I tried to charge the car via 13amp charger at the holiday house and that wouldn’t work either.
In the 11 days I had the car it was charged twice on my home wall box and once on an 11.5kw public charger without any problems.
My husband has an EV too so no fossil fuelled car to fall back on, fingers crossed it’s a blip as I really like the car!

So this was its first ever DCFC. Definitely would want the OBCC module looked at by the dealership. I would personally insist that the dealer takes it to a fast charger before returning it to you. Dealer probably doesn’t have one, but better it breaks again with them than you.

I’ve only ever used a 50kw charger a few times, mainly just to make sure it worked!! Most of my charging is done on a 7Kw home charger. Never ever even tried the granny charger (3 pin plug)

How typical of FordPass. My trial subscription of the Blue Oval charge card expired on 25th May. As I wasn't prepared to pay £149 for access to the Ionity network and I have BP Pulse membership through work I shredded my card. Just got a message on my FP saying that as I was one of the first to activate my Blue Oval charge card they have extended it's validity (but for BP Pulse only I hasten to add) until 31st July. Thanks for nothing

If you have activated plug and charge it should still work, no need for card.

you can request a new card too.

Thanks for that .
Do you have to switch the power on and off when you get in and out of the car ? or does the Diagnostic port power down up and down with the ignition on and off.

Always have it set to "off", as I don't monitor the car when not driving. Will try setting it to "on" to see if it then still works when the car is off.

You still need to pay a subscription fee. Plug and charge only works on Ionity as far as I'm aware.

Thought you said they extended your Blue Oval subscription but you had no card as you cut it up……..hence my suggestion……not to worry

I wouldn’t say so. As long as it’s not accident damaged, the battery should still be in perfect condition. Subject to bodywork being perfect and price, I wouldn’t have an issue with it.

Check to make sure it has had the recalls done. If it is from a dealer they can't sell it unless it has. Not sure if that applies to a private sale or not.

Update so far, I haven’t spoken to the tech as yet but had call from sales director to say car is fine, they’ve ā€œdone what they needed toā€ however couldn’t tell me what that was. Couldn’t confirm if they have done the updates but he presumed so.
They have asked to keep it another 24 hours as they have a Mach E specialist on site in the morning.
I have asked them to try it on a a fast charger to make sure there are no issues which they will do tomorrow once they have warmed it up. He did ask me if I had tried to charge it in accessory mode, apparently a number of cases have been reported with issues after folks have tried to charge when the car wasn’t actually switched off. I assured him despite being female and blonde I’m not a complete eejit and am used to an EV although I can see how that might happen if you aren’t used to a very quiet car.

Fingers crossed Stormzy is home tomorrow!
