I went onto comparethemarket again and Admiral still cheapest although it had gone up from 458 to 492 in 2 weeks. However the first time I put down it had a tracker (because the spec sheet/price list at Ford co.uk said it had one included). Have since found out that this is incorrect so omitted it this time. Still quite good I think. This is for ER RWD.

Hi Electricpony

Similar for me but rwd SR with a 15k annual mileage and £350 excess

£1432 including breakdown cover per year! But a huge drop in petrol costs and likely a better resale value compared to a Kuga. The ER version was about £20 extra a year.

I get the sr awd fully comp for £810 a year. Surprised thought it would be less than that compare the market.

Seeing these insurance quotes is breaking my heart.

I think I need to move as my quote will be based on my location in north west London.

Have just been onto my ford account and I must say I am rather disappointed that I am still stuck at position 1. If what I have been led to believe has happened I should be on position 5 (vehicle built). My car should have been born on Thursday and should now be on the maternity ward awaiting transport home.

Things seem to be progressing at the moment. If you go to ford.co.uk, click on the owners tab then download manual, go to model year and then model you can download the MME owners handbook

My cheapest quote has been with Admiral as well via comparethemarket. £589.12 for SR AWD with 10k miles a year. That’s with a £600 excess?

At the moment I’m taking bets on if I’ll get the COVID vaccine or my MME first...and I’m not in a vulnerable group! ? ?

I dream of insurance this low.
to be honest I’m now on the brink of cancelling my order due the quotes I received.

For the past 5 years I’ve stopped taking out insurance in my name. I do it under my missus name and add myself as a 2nd driver and it’s always significantly cheaper. If you have a significant other who drives, it’s worth checking it this way... it could bring it down a couple hundred £.

Unfortunately not in a position to do that but thanks for the suggestion.

I don’t get it. Unblemished 20+ years no claims. No convictions or endorsements, and I’m quoted nearly three times more than others for 10000 mile annual, and £600 compulsory/voluntary excess. I knew I would be expecting a hike in premiums, compared to what I pay now for a Hyundai iOniq Hybrid but any expected cost savings based on ownership of an MME just won’t exist for me, based on the insurance alone. Time to think about my options.

I doubt anything will change until orders are confirmed. They aren’t really our cars till then, people may choose to alter aspects of their pre-order then it would be a different build date and VIN.

Out of interest how were you able to find out that the spec sheet was incorrect regarding the + tracker statement.

Re insuance costs, I suspect this is because the car has no record of claims so the insurance companies can only guess at repair costs and how risky the car is. My other issue is ford are offering their loans at 5% which is very off putting.
