See here for gov info https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vehicle-tax-for-electric-and-low-emissions-vehicles
the £40k supplement kicks in for new cars registered on or after 1st April 2025 and it applies from the second tax payment along with the standard rate of tax which is currently £190, for the first tax payment its the lowest tax band which is believe is £10
EVs registered between 1st April 2017 and 31st March 2025 pay the standard rate of £190 (due to change)

Only applicable to new EVs registered after April 2025 over £40k. Or have I missed something? I may well have done, it’s a long thread?

Personally I don’t agree with the extra vehicle tax for EVs over £40k as EVs are expensive as it is so it isn’t exactly an incentive to buy one.
Bottom line is the government have set 2035 or will it reduce back to 2030 for all new cars to be EV (new hybrids I understand have a slightly longer life than pure ICE). I don’t actually think they care about incentives as soon it’s the only choice if you want a new car.
Incentivisation has provided mixed messaging.

Honest Johnson took my £3k grant away between ordering & buying but Ford corrected the previous government’s theft
& made it up, bless ‘em, be interesting to see what happens now. I did at least manage to offset full cost of car against the Corporation Tax for the year in which I bought it which was nice, had a few years free from RFL, company car tax has been kind so not complaining if I have to pay a bit of RFL.

Don’t expect owt for nowt. Whilst can afford to pay am happy to do so.

But you have had owt for nowt. You have recovered a £3K grant and offset the FULL cost of the car against corporation tax. I fully understand how that works buddy.

The Mach E is one of three cars we have and i dont drive it that often. I like the Mach E, I also like the idea of EV's but at the moment incentives for most people who cant offset against corportation tax or company EV salary sacrifice schemes ( which actually arent that great unless you pick the car they want to lease you) they simply dont make economic sense at the moment and INCENTIVES to buy them seem to be erroding.

What I actually said was I don’t expect owt for nowt.

When it’s promised, though, I do expect it, it’s the way I try to do business and expect others dealing with me to behave.

Don’t do salary sacrifice.

Bought Stangy outright, won’t lease.

I choose the car I like

I feel blessed as I’m the only one in the Company which is mine so nobody to tells me what I have?

If I were honest, I’d have bought Stangy with no incentives.

Did a HVB SoH check on 91,500 miles at 37 months the other day.

91%

Happy with that especially that it measured 89.5% when I measured it a few months ago.

The difference may be due to the fact I fully charged this time, the 89.5% was at c85% SoC.

Stangy’s going in for HVJB tomorrow, and a service, transmission oil & coolant change.

Well, it's a bit of a sad day, but after 3 years of having my 21J1, freshly MOT'd, I have placed an order for a Tesla Model 3 LR.....

My brother came down to visit in his Model 3 and let me drive it for the day.

All I can say is......sold.

I love my Mustang, but the Tesla is just unreal....the tech....PAAK.....everything really.

I guess I dont have to renew my FDRS subscription anymore though :)

Just be aware the second hand price for the Mach-E is dire.......but I guess that goes for most cars.

I wanted to get a new motor before the luxury car tax kicks back in next year, so just went ahead and did it.

I agree, my lease runs out next July and I'm getting a Tesla (probably a model Y).

Yes it's a sad day but I can understand. The number of recalls on mine and backwards and forwards to the dealer for niggly items that should have not occurred if the car had been built properly at the factory. I'm sure you're aware but if not, there are no indicator stalks nowadays on the new Model 3, only buttons on one side of the steering wheel. (Why they couldn't have one button on the left and one button on the right would have made more sense.) I'm sure you will adapt but be prepared for a learning curve. Gear selection is by the screen but the way it looks to be implemented seems to work fine from what I've seen. I totally agree about gear stalk removal but not so much about indicator stalk removal. Of course any ex BMW drivers will adapt just fine.?

Picking new Tesla up August 23rd. Cant wait.

I bought my 21J1 AWD-SR August 1st 2021 brand new, can’t remember what I paid….somewhere between £40k and £50k.

Only 9500 miles on the clock today, and still mint condition.

I now have a buyer at £22k, who will take it August 22nd.
I tried various sites, and £20k-£24k was the area we were in.
Depreciation is painful….

We used to reckon on about 40-50% depreciation over the first three years, so that sounds about right. I think we got fooled by the inflated second-hand prices post-COVID.

I hope you enjoy your new Tesla.

Just making mind up on Tesla model y. Getting offers of around 23k for 2022.25 AWD SR with tech pack and 8000 miles. Just stupid depreciation.

So after 3 years and 3 months, 90000 miles (Never managed to get near @Teslaeata) my time with the MachE has come to an end. Love this car but my Company car Scheme won't allow for it this time around, and they don't do Tesla, so have had to go with the BMW iX1 and to be honest, I feel like a change after 3 years.

I got a figure to buy the car, based on WBAC is £13755 and that's before the usual deductions, the depreciation is mad, but that's a lot of car for that money.
