It was a lot different then in that Ford really wanted to make the experience of owning the new Thunderbird special (it cost $40,000 in 2002 so it would be a lot more in today's dollars). As a result of this, my wife and I took a one-on-one tour of the assembly plant with Dave Davis and it was spectacular. I was able to go right up to the assembly line and talk to workers and I actually got a V-8 badge that they put on the 2003 Thunderbirds (2002 didn't have them). I'll never forget it and the best part was at the end when they put gas in the cars and started them up for the first time (they were "born!"). Later, we took the same tour with a group of my fellow Thunderbird owners (Thunderbirdnest.com) and the entire group had a good time but didn't have the individualized experience my wife and I had. Wish Ford could have a virtual tour of Cuautitlan Plant using Zoom or something like that.I always like the folks at Wixom Assembly. It's a General RV and a Menard's now.
Just curious, how did you score the invite?
