That was preproduction. This isn’t a guess. It says it’s disabled in the owners manual and Darren Palmer confirmed it in the live stream today.
So no emergency release???

So the issue is the regulation prevents electronic hood/frunk release, which then means the escape button must be disabled which then means a frunk divider is necessary?

Is that it?

In theory
Can’t open my trunk while driving by hitting trunk open button on my key fob. Checked on my cRV. Can’t open even if in park but if car in ON.

ok. Just one really stupid question. If they went through the trouble to add the button then why disable it. I mean it has electricity going to it as it lights up like a Christmas tree. Is it possible there will be an OTA or maybe the actual production cars might have it working???

mid the wanted to simply put in a divider for this ok but the divider in the car has broken up with crazy size compartments.

I did ask the ford rep and she did say that the touring cars are ALL preproduction and an email went out telling dealers to NOT DRIVE THEM. Is there any chance on the delivered vehicles this button that has electricity going to it may actuall work??

as far as the frunk goes it is kind of inconvenient to open. The releas button in the car is under the dash where a hood release might me and you have to pull it twice to open it.

Several people asked for more details during the Ford Q&A a few days ago. They responded that an OTA update is anticipated to enable the functionality, and that the dividers are needed in the meantime to comply with safety requirements. I think we have more discussion/prognostication on it in the other thread if you want to read more on it.

That‘s the million dollar question, and nobody here can answer that. All we know is that it has something to do with safety regulations. Ford’s current plan is to enable it later with an OTA update, but that’s not garaunteed.
