Don't want to side track this thread, only 1 comment here. Both Ford and GM controlling interests are actually people: Board Members, CEO, President, and probably dozens of others, and their influence waxes and wanes over time. In other words, Corporate in both companies are run by committees or groups, so GM and Ford did not "change sides" so much as someone or some other group within the organization became more influential for a time.

Plus, technical capabilities are advancing rather fast. For BEVs, it's always been about the batteries. Energy density (for range) + charging time + price. The big 3 factors. Everyone had different predictions on when batteries would get "good enough", and different thresholds for how good they needed to get before BEVs would become viable to sell.

That threshold just occurred (well, 2018) for Ford and the Mach-E. For some others it was earlier, for others later. It's a better fit for some automakers' target markets than others.

I just looked up my reservation today and saw that "my production date" has been moved from December 20, 2020 to December 27, 2020! I ordered "my" car the first night I could. I then reserved my car the first Saturday I could thanks to this great forum which gave me a heads up and then got "my" date of December 20, 2020. Dang it, Dang it, Dang it!!! I'm talking myself off the darn ledge as I type this as I was so looking forward to something positive. Oh, yeah, that's right. My loved ones are still alive, my friends are still alive, I'm still alive. Things could be so very much worse. So, what's a week? I already sold my Fusion Energy to a college kid who needed a car back in September, 2020, since I was going to be "getting" my MME. I "borrowed" my husband's C-Max leaving him just his F-150 to drive since I thought it would not be very many months in between vehicles. Life could be so much worse. I just need to remember how damn lucky I really am. It's not Ford's fault, it's not a shipper's fault, it's no one's fault. It is just what has happened
We all have to remember here that what counts is that we as a Country and a World get a handle on this disease, that the people involved with this car working in such close quarters with one another do not have an outbreak and we all just take some deep breaths remembering that if all we have to deal with is a delay in getting our car, we are truly blessed and we have no room to complain about anything! Okay, now I've talked myself off that damn ledge. Que Sera, Sera! Let's just keep a positive outlook for each other including all those people working so hard down in Mexico. Everybody wear your facemask so that we can get that chance to drive our cars!!!!

I just looked up my reservation today and saw that "my production date" has been moved from December 20, 2020 to December 27, 2020! I ordered "my" car the first night I could. Absolutely! It's important to keep perspective on things. So far I and my family have been very fortunate, although it is looking more likely that the nursery school/kids play place she works part time for may not make it through all of this. Considering that I make 90% of the household income that's not so bad - her income basically pays for vacations, christmas gifts, etc. I can easily continue to work from home, and so far the software company I work for has managed to maintain income YOY through all of this.

The most important thing is that we both have asthma and so far have managed to avoid what very well could be fatal for both of us. A car I don't really need isn't such a big deal in that context.
