Is there anything specific to be done if we are going to be leave the car in the garage for four weeks?

Should I Charge it to 80% and do periodic remote start / stop with the car being plugged in?
Or leave it charged at 80% and not worry about it...

Agree with 50-60% charge. And if you might get a thunderstorm while gone, I would not leave it plugged in.

The recommendation, if I recall correctly, is to have your battery at 50% for extended periods of inactivity.
Yes. Stated in the manual for 30 days or more period.

Will you be terminating your insurance going on a 1 month trip? I ask because I might do the same too soon. :p

What if somebody steals it or it catches fire? I guess you could reduce your collision and liability coverage, but it hardly seems worth it for a month.

I would make sure the car is in the garage and the garage door is down. Other than that, not worried about anything.

THIS is the advice I hear from experts.
Yeah but what happens when you get a massive thunderstorm with lightening strikes around your house? Does it destroy your car? I don't know the answer, but certainly it could be bad.

My area gets thunderstorms in the summer, so I definitely would not leave it plugged in while being gone for 4 weeks. If you never get thunderstorms, then I agree - leave it plugged in.
