Virtually impossible to brake smoothly

I brake with 1pedal 97% of the time.
It does take a bit of practice, but once you get it down it works great.
I will admit it is not as smooth or easy to accustom as it was with the Bolt. It took some practice with the Bolt initially.
I would wager that 1pedal driving varies a bit from EV to EV.

Yep. It's the garage and parking spaces that keep me from using 1PD. If I'm stopped and want to inch forward or backward a little, you have to hit the gas and lurch a few feet. I hate that in tight spots. I want creep with my foot on the brake to inch forward or back.

Engaged + L is what I use now. I get the good regen at speeds over 3 MPH, and I get to keep creep + brake below 3 MPH.

I don't notice any lurch with parking/reversing in 1PD, I think it's something you get used to. The accelerator is very sensitive and feathering it prevents any lurches. And I have to back out of the garage and weave through two other cars on the driveway. I have 1PD+Autohold on at all times.

As far as I can tell, auto hold does not operate in reverse. One of the differences from my Infiniti that I really appreciate.

I could see that. With 1PD on it's rarely activated. The only time I usually see the icon come on is when I shift out of Park.

Autohold is redundant with 1PD anyway. And I hated it in other modes because it eliminated creep (which I want). I was thinking it eliminated creep in reverse too, but it's been 6 month since I tried it so you may be right.

Either way though, I hated it.

So I use 1PD and have always used it as I've found it fun to use. This is my first EV that I've ever driven as well and I adapted to the 1PD fairly quickly.

I typically always run in Engaged but today I put it in Whisper to mess around. The braking is much less in whisper lol I was coming to a stop that would normally be no issue in engaged but in whisper it was not slowing down. I gave it a little brake and I swear I almost locked up the tires lol So I could see where some people don't like the braking at least if they are running 1PD. If you were not using 1PD then I don't think it would be as bad.

As far as tight spaces and 1PD, it just takes time and knowing your car. I park in a very tight space and I pull in/out in 1PD. One day my 1PD got turned off somehow and it freaked me out cause this car goes zooming with no brake lol I will admit the first 5 times or so of parking was a bit awkward with 1PD.

I have 5000 miles on mine and my brakes croak Everytime when coming to a complete stop. Especially noticeable with brake hold on, and resuming after stopping regardless of the drive mode selected.

I picked mine up yesterday, noticed the brakes are completely different from unbridled to engage. In Unbridled as soon as i let off the accelerator the car starts slowing down like the motors are offering heavy resistance (not 1PD), switch to engage and it was just like my Truck or wifes jeep, smooth. When I drove the demo back in march I could feel the difference between regen and friction, I cant in this car in engage, but can in unbridled. Not sure what that means other than some kind of software tweak. At low speeds I have had to bury the pedal a few times to keep from creeping forward, but I got used to that fast. They are creaking, but, with 30ish miles I wouldnt expect them not to. For some folks this may be the first new car or whatnot, creaking and uneven grabs are 100% normal for at least 100 miles.

Me either. Slowing down is smooth as silk whether using brakes or OPD.

I've made a point of making some aggressive stops when possible, but to be honest if you follow standard bedding procedures, it's pretty hard to do when the physical mechanical breaks are really only used for the last 10% to 20% of the breaking, and the majority of the breaking is done via regen (in any drive mode).

I have over 7000 km on my MME 4X and I've got to tell you, if the breaks haven't been "bedded in" by now, than we are likely looking at an engineering and design oversight here. How much more breaking do I need to do to actually achieve this?

I'm curious, have you done this and do you experience any creaking sounds when breaking, particularly when coming to a very slow stop without any abruptness or jerking?

If so can you explain how you did so?

'bedding' requires several (maybe 5-10) aggressive braking events from 45-10, then 60-10 to get the pads and rotors really hot and transfers a little pad to the rotor. The goal is SMOKING hot, and maybe even feeling some 'fade' when things are really hot.

Then drive around highway speed for 10-20 minutes to allows things to cool down evenly before parking.

This makes braking smoother, and prevents pads from sticking to rotors with a thin coating of rust or water.

I have no jerky stopping, no creaking, and braking is smooth whether auto-hold w/ 1-p, and/or mechanical stops.

Over the decades, I've always found Fords with power assist BRAKES are more grabby than other makes. I think this is true with the MME as well. That being said, I have absolutely no complaints with the BRAKES on this car. I regularly come to a smooth stop, I hear no "creaks" at all, and I have no idea what the "rocking" complaint is about. I've settled on engage, I have not even tried one pedal driving. I have turned off "Auto Hold", as it was driving me nuts. I have used "L" when descending hills.

Quick update: this fixed all of the noise I was hearing. Feels like a whole new experience and I'm no longer embarrassed when braking. ? Thank you 1000x

It finally feels like the entire experience matches my expectations. You have no idea how thankful I am.
