Yes, you are overthinking it.

Facts:

- A fraction of vehicles have issues.
- People post on forums and other social media largely to complain and talk about issues, not praise their vehicles.
- The 2023 is different than the prior years, as Ford as evolved both hardware and software. Many 2021 owners had issues that 2022 owners, and then 2023 owners, will not experience. This is especially true with software issues, that have been mostly resolved.

Have there been any documented hardware changes in 2023's? All I can find is that awd is now standard in CR1s. I honestly don't think Ford has improved anything at all since we're still seeing the same issues as older models. Software wise it's hard to even know since versions are all over the place in terms of who has what version

They have the “newer” HVJB.

Also the SR 23 1/2 models have an entirely different battery.

If you want to feel better, go find the forum of whatever car you traded in and read about the issues those owners are having.

Oh, that might be why I haven't really left the bZ4X forums yet. Good to have reminders of why I spent so much to get rid of that car, and get this car. ?

Newbie here... 2 days with a bare bones 2023 Select. As I read through the forums, I get increasingly paranoid about failures. I feel like Indiana Jones peering into the hole: "HVBJB..why did it have to be HVBJB..."
Am I overthinking things too much? I really want to love this car.

Funny how human nature works. I was the same way when I first got the Mach-E lol ? I was like damn it, this is going to be horrible if the HVBJB fails.

So as a test I went to a Tesla forum…good lord…no better over there lol. People go to forums to learn, share experiences and complain.

For reference - people have problems with new $500,000 Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s and McLarens.

Honestly, in the grand spectrum of life and all the things that can happen in the world…don’t sweat it…just enjoy the car, have fun…life is short. Most problems in life are solvable and aren’t worth the mental anguish.

Don't overthink it, but... be prepared. That goes for any vehicle though, as others have noted there doesn't exist a vehicle or manufacturer that has been completely problem free. It's why warranties persist, even among the supposedly rock solid manufacturers like Toyota or Honda.

You should have in your vehicle some basics in case any vehicle leaves you stuck, and there are pre-made kits that are easy to get, AAA if you have a membership sells some good ones for a good price, or build your own with some basics (like thermal blanket, reflector stand ups, etc). Are you likely to need them? Nope. I haven't had a vehicle leave me stranded in over 20 years of driving and I suspect most who have driven relatively new vehicles in the last 20 years or so can say the same. But it can happen and carrying a few basics is always nice.

But don't sweat what hasn't happened, and while Ford may have kind of bungled the first HVBJB on 2021 cars (and some 2022), they aren't interested in having ongoing failures and warranty claims for the next 10 years, so with a 2023 I would feel pretty confident and just enjoy it.

Just don’t worry.

Please don’t spoil your experience by overthinking things and in particular what you hear others complaining about, relatively isolated cases interesting though it is, people shout and shout louder about problems they experience and problems they only think are problems.

26 mths, 63,500 miles, loved every minute & every mile in the ‘Stang and now I’ve experienced the pleasure of ownership I plan on running it ‘til it drops!

I have experienced anxiety once I started reading in this forum too.

While I have learned about my MME, I was not aware of the issues folks have had when I made my purchase. Some scary stuff! Most peoples nature is to post about the bad situations vs all the good.

My purchase of my Mustang was a 100% emotional impulse buy when my Escape died on me. I never thought I would buy an EV. I didn't even know the MME existed until I was towed to a Ford dealership in So Cal.

I bought it because everything I looked at in the car made me say WOW!!!

let's face it, it's a bad ass car!

I'm happy with my MME and glad I bought it.

Most of the massive threads about problems were 'early on' with first model year design kinks and a few sub-standard parts in early production.... coupled with generally undereducated dealership service teams and supply chain challenges.

There are still 'software update issues' for some of the infotainment/sensor/auto-drive stuff, but mechanically the new builds are pretty damn solid.

I bought mine after a midnight surf for EV SUVs with largest range in something like January 2020.

Saw the coming MME advertised.

Saw it at a dealer in one of those road show things around March 2020 and as soon as I saw it I said to myself I AM HAVING ONE OF THOSE!

Booked it, paid deposit, bought it outright when it arrived and never looked back!

I have just over 46,300 miles in mine, including an Atlantic - Pacific - Atlantic trip. It didn't blow up, and zombies didn't come out of a corn field to eat me, and... and besides, should anything happen by now the dealers are much, much better prepared to handle the occasional big battery issue compared to the general dealer unpreparedness & parts backup back in 2021 / 22.

I've got a 21 GTPE I beat on constantly to get the HVBJB to fail and it refuses. 20k miles on the clock. Had issue with magnaride in the cold and finicky door modules. All of which has been patched out. People join forums mostly to bitch. Welcome, there's nothing to be worried about.
