Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Ain’t nothing wrong with being gay, too. Be comfortable in your own skin and with who you love, or are loved by.

They should have just skipped the mustang part and called it the Mach-E

I don't care what people say. It is a Mustang. It has the badging for it, literally looks like a Mustang with the lines, has the iconic tail lights of a Mustang and the performance of one. I'd even argue it has a LOT better interior than any traditional mustang along with it.

Many car enthusiasts are insufferable gatekeepers. People threw the same fit when Porsche started selling SUVs and crossovers yet years later, no one cares. Same will be the case here. This won't be the last 4 door mustang regardless if they continue calling it the Mach E or whatever.

I really like my new Mach E. I haven’t found much not to like. But I admit that the “Mustang” monicker embarrasses me a bit.
One of my buddies asked me what I thought they should have called it? Before the question I had not given that any thought. I spent an evening contemplating and I have my answer. What is yours?
The MME is the first Ford I have owned but I grew up with Fords, learned to drive in a ‘58 Country Sedan, 292 V8 3 on the tree with overdrive. I remember when the Mustang was introduced and what a departure it was after the failure of Edsel.
and it occurred to me that the era held the answer to what the Mach E should have been named……(Drumroll)…..The Galaxy! A long dormant name from Ford’s past that has the connotation of being about something extra terrestrial and beyond our reach.
Missed opportunity if you ask me.
Glad they did not call it a Pinto

Galaxy a long dormant name? ???

You need a Christopher Columbus type to go and explore “new world” outside of the US, there is a world beyond ????

There’s been a Galaxy in UK & Europe for years until the last year or two.

Shared a platform with the SEAT Alhambra & Volkswagen Sharan for some years.

Certainly no connotations of anything extra terrestrial, in fact an icon of mediocrity so no wonder the worldwide name adopted for our beautiful cars was not Galaxy.

I quite like Mustang as a name, feels good to wear the brand?

That is what I call it. But people seem to always reply “You mean the electric Mustang?”
Which is exactly what it is – a Mustang with a different drivetrain!

Ford seems to like nouns that are also verbs. Escort, Edge, Transit, Pilot (UK), Focus, Probe...

So I'm just glad they didn't name it the Joke, or the Yawn, or the Corkscrew or Shackle or Cornhole or something.

To anyone who is stupid enough to say "that's not a Mustang," I would say "you are right, a Mustang has a V8, a carburetor, and a live axle." Guessing most people who would say that don't have an original model.

I never understood the whole "upset about the name" thing. It's a car!! Who cares what they call it?
But, to answer the question.... I would have liked "F-150 Cummings edition" just to piss off that whole sector of people even more!!!
