If you don't need the car right now, there are some other appealing electric vehicles coming into the market over the next year or two. You're making my head hurt ? I might go look at the EV6 this weekend. There's one at a dealership near me. It just doesn't have the attitude the mach-e has and, as someone who has owned Hondas for the last 30 years (minus one Volvo) I LOVED the attitude of the Mach-e.
I don't think you're wrong to place the order, as long as they'll refund my deposit (they said yes but I want it in writing) and see how the tax issue works out. I was prepared for the price increase because it would make sense to Ford for them to pocket the 6-8K a car knowing that most people would get a tax rebate which would make it pretty much a wash. But without the rebate it's just too much of a jump.
Thanks for the reviews. I'm new to the EV market, as you can probably tell.
If you want a SUV, the Chevrolet Blazer EV is reportedly going to come out late 2023. It looks like a nice alternative to the Mach-E.
If you want a large, three-row SUV, Kia's EV9 is due some time next year (some reports say early 2023, but we'll see). This is an electric version of the Telluride, but built from the ground up to be an electric vehicle.
If you want something more like a minivan, the VW ID.Buzz will supposedly be released in America some time next year.
It's unclear how much of the new EV rebate these vehicles will be eligible for, as battery production locations are harder to determine. Kia is reportedly moving up their plans by a year for an EV production factory in the USA, possibly to try and capture more of that rebate.
